My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ABOUT BASIL
Basil is a 2-year-old mixed breed with a goofy and loving personality! Basil came to HAP recently when his owners could no longer have a dog. While he was a little nervous his first few days at the shelter, this wiggly boy has always been a sweetheart with our team! Basil is quick to warm up to new people, knows basic commands, and appears house-trained already! He has spent a few days out of the shelter in our Doggy Day Out program. Here’s what our volunteers have to say about him:

“Today I took Basil out! He was so excited to be out of the shelter for the day. We went on multiple walks together as the weather was beautiful. He was super awesome on the leash and loved to sniff around. He was nervous around new people at first, but quickly warmed up to them as he received lots of pets. To end the day, we snuggled up on the couch. Basil is the sweetest and deserves the best home!” - Grace

“Basil is the sweetest boy ever, I loved spending time with him so much! We took a walk to the park before heading home! We sat on the bench, watched the water, and saw the geese as well! He met my 11-year-old brother and they ran around in the yard. He loves to play and when you say he’s a good boy he gets so excited. I had the best day with him! He would love someone who would play and love him, like he deserves!!” - Patzy

In the meantime, you are welcome to submit an adoption questionnaire if interested in adoption! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis. We are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog, but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
