Meet Jelly Bean, a dog with a heart as sweet as her name suggests. Her personality is a delightful mix of friendly, curious, and confident. She`s always alert and ready for a new adventure, her energy is infectious. She enjoys watching the other shelter dogs but we haven`t seen her interact with one yet. Children neither. Jelly Bean is a master of cuddles and is always ready to shower you with affectionate kisses. She communicates her excitement through cute grunts and jumps. She enjoys using her 50-pound body to lead the way on a leash and knows the sit command but we don`t know if she is house trained. With Jelly Bean, every day is filled with joy, laughter, and unconditional love. She is waiting to find a family who will embrace her energetic spirit and sweet nature. Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.
Dogs (over 15 lbs) $105

Special Discounts
Seniors for Seniors - Special Senior Citizen (60 yrs +) No charge for an animal 7 yrs or older.
Military Families - 50% of adoption fees waived for military personnel and veterans. (proof of eligibility required)
Any dog/puppy adopted at the same time as a cat/kitten will be adoptable at a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
