My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mabel....her name means `Loveable` and she most certainly is. Mabel is a 4 year old Retriever/Lab mix who made her way into HSSM care after being found as a stray by the Gulfport Police Department. Her grey hairs are full of wisdom, and she is ready to show all her knowledge to a new family. She knows how to sit, stay, smile, and is always seeking attention from the people around her. She is sweet and still has lots of life and energy to provide to a new home. She is up to date on all vaccinations, microchipped, and will be spayed for free upon adoption. She is Heartworm positive but please do not let that be the deciding factor. Our HSSM Wellness Clinic does discount treatment for adopters. Are you ready for a new addition to your household? Don`t keep her waiting, come meet her today!

Additional adoption info

HSSM is home to over 300 pets on any given day, most of which are looking for new forever homes! Your new best friend could be waiting at HSSM right now. Our beautiful, 41,000 square foot facility is currently open to the public. HSSM is open for adoptions Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary to adopt, however, adoptions are first-come, first served. You must come to HSSM to complete your adoption and make sure you bring a photo ID, as it is required to complete adoption paperwork.
Our adoptable animals page is self-updating and displays ALL of HSSM’s adorable adoptable pets from “pocket pets” to birds and of course the hundreds of dogs and cats currently calling HSSM home! See one you like? Make sure you note your favorite’s name and animal ID number so that HSSM staff and volunteers can easily find him/her when you come in!
Adoptions are cut off every day about 30 minutes prior to closing and possibly earlier if volume is high. Weekends are busy and you may have to wait more than an hour (especially in the afternoons) so please be prepared.
