My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gilmore is a reserved soul who will let you in once he feels safe and comfortable. Initially shy in his kennel, he warms up to become a sweet, affectionate pup. Gilmore loves gentle pets, attention, and treats, taking them politely. His joyful “toe taps” show his excitement when praised, and he adores leaning in for cuddles like a big, affectionate cat.
While not highly interested in playtime with friends just yet, he enjoys quietly engaging with toys on his own. Gilmore would thrive in a calm, patient home where he can continue to grow into his loving, happy self.

Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Gilmore at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering him.

Behavior notes:
01/05/2025 staff notes:
BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: Gilmore

KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray

KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Gilmore was in his kennel curled up on his bed. He half way got up and gave some tucked wags with semi hard eye contact and was very nervous. The handler crouched down and he came up to the front and sniffed the leash and then backed up. The handler moved really slow as he was very nervous and would lay down when the leash was in the kennel. The handler was able to lasso him and once secured came right out.

LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls strongly

HANDLING :
Gilmore was social and friendly in the room. He came up to the handler for nice sniffs and sat nicely for treats. He takes treats gently and wiggles up for some pets. He loves attention and pets and gets more excited with the more attention he gets. He loves to be called a good boy and gets the cutest toe taps, trying his hardest to contain his energy and not jump up on the handlers. He is a super affectionate boy and rubs his head and entire body on the handler like a cat.

PLAY:
Minimal interest

TOYS:
Played with toys by himself – got stiff when the handler tried to offer him a toy

01/04/2025 APO staff noted: Dog appear reserved but once comfortable does like to receive pets and attention and treats as well
