Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Meet Pancake, a stunning one-year-old Husky mix with a heart as soft as his favorite fuzzy bed who currently resides in a foster home in Newport News, Virginia.
This affectionate boy is equal parts playful, cuddly, and delightfully quirky. With his sweet temperament and love for tummy rubs, Pancake is the ultimate companion for anyone looking for a loyal and loving friend.
Pancake grew up alongside a Husky and a German Shepherd, so he’s no stranger to canine company. Due to housing issues, his previous human was not able keep these dogs + one of our amazing volunteers helped us scoop Pancake up from ACCT Philly.
Now in foster care with two Huskies and a Husky-savvy cat, he’s proving to be a social butterfly. While he’s eager to befriend the resident cat (perhaps a little too eager at times), he’s still learning the fine art of respecting feline boundaries—cat-savvy adopters will love his playful curiosity.
In true Husky fashion, Pancake is brimming with energy and excitement. He’s a dream on city streets, unfazed by traffic or crowds, but he lets his adventurous spirit shine in parks and on trails, where his zigzagging enthusiasm can turn a simple walk into an unforgettable adventure.
Pancake’s past has shaped him into a resilient and adaptable pup. He’s overcome food insecurities and now shares meals happily with his foster sister, though he still needs supervision with toys during playtime. His impressive 100% recall and self-soothing skills are testaments to his intelligence and potential for further training.
While Pancake adores his humans, he can be a little wary of large men at first. With gentle reassurance, he quickly warms up and becomes his affectionate, trusting self. He does have a sensitive stomach and benefits from a special diet, as well as a careful routine to manage his separation anxiety. Crating isn’t his favorite, but he’s learning to tolerate short periods with the help of Doggie TV and a tasty chew to keep him calm.
Pancake is looking for a home that embraces his quirks, matches his energy, and loves him unconditionally. Whether he’s snuggling on the couch, exploring the great outdoors, or showering you with affection, Pancake promises to fill your life with joy, laughter, and love.
He is adoptable only after neutering + recovery toward the end of January. Pancake is available for Meet n Greets in the meantime.

More about this rescue
Mission Statement: To end the unnecessary suffering of homeless companion animals by serving as a refuge and enabling humans to provide them quality and compassionate homes.
Our Vision: Our mission is two-fold; we want to help abandoned pets and we want to help stop pet abandonment.
We operate using a network of kind hearted hands to help find homeless animals veterinary and behavior care and then match them with appropriate forever homes. We also strive to educate pet owners about resources they might utilize in order to best understand how to provide for their friends with furry paws, feathers or claws. We always do our best to help.
