Animal Profile: Ranch was found by a Good Samaritan wandering a south SeaTac park. He was hanging out near a dumpster, and when no one came for him after hours, he was brought to Regional Animal Services of King County. Our friends there contacted us because they know that we love Dobermans at DGS. This sweet senior boy was skinny and had a wonky gait - they suspected Wobblers Disease and knew he would do better in a foster home vs a kennel. We had to help!
Foster Update: Ranch was estimated to be 10 years old when he entered the shelter, but boy does this kid have a zest for life! While he loves nothing more than a cuddle on the couch, he is also happy to go for long walks and explore local sniffspots. Ranch does have Wobblers, but other than his wobbly back end his neck is unaffected. He can still run, jump and play (much to foster mom’s chagrin when it’s icy on the porch in the morning). Ranch has gotten along with dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes in foster care. He loves playing with our resident 12 pound pit/chihuahua mix and is very fond of our male Doberman. Ranch has been greeted every new stranger with a wiggly nub and a kiss. He’s good with our kids, but since he can sometimes be sensitive about his back end we are looking for an adult only household for him to live out his golden years. Ranch is house trained and does ok in a crate, but he can be vocal when first left alone. Honestly, he’d be fine to hang out on a dog bed when no one’s home once he’s through the transition to a new home. He’s never been destructive alone, minus the shredding of a dog bed and blanket that were left in his crate. Ranch is a typical Velcro Doberman who would prefer to be wherever you are.
Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.
