Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.
A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known.
Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.
Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list.
thanks

Date into Rescue:12/3/2024
Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release.
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Trooper is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 01/08/25 Trooper had a dental polishing.
Weight: 49 lb
Height: 26 in at the shoulder
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Adoption Fee: $599
Fence needed? Sweet Trooper has never lived without the security and safety of a physically fenced in yard for running and play time. He needs one - at least 4' please.
What kind of home would be best for me? Say hello to Trooper, one of the most charming, calm, and gentle dogs you'll ever meet. With his mellow personality, he’s almost perfect—but there's just one thing that makes him a little bit less than perfect: doors. Whether entering or exiting, Trooper doesn’t like to go first and will need you to lead the way. Sometimes, he may resist going through the door altogether. We're actively working with him on this issue, but otherwise, Trooper is an absolute gem.
Trooper is versatile and would thrive in a home with a single person, a couple, or a family. He’s not overly active and doesn’t jump, so he could be a great fit for families with children of any age. He requires a home with a securely fenced backyard where he can run and play safely.
Trooper would do best as the only dog in the home. He can be a little possessive and prefers to be the center of attention when it comes to his person—he wants you all to himself! He may show some agitation and irritation towards other dogs, so a home where he can have all your love and attention is ideal.
What is my personality like? Trooper came to us as a breeder release and had a lot to learn when he first arrived. One thing he didn’t need to learn - how to love people. This sweet boy is a people person through and through. He’s gentle and affectionate, and his love for humans is boundless.
Trooper walks well on a leash, though a refresher course would help him sharpen his skills. His new family will need to continue working with him on basic commands like sit, stay, down, and come. Trooper isn't a fan of being crated—he’d much prefer to roam freely around the house, so he’s best suited for a home where he’s allowed that freedom.
Trooper would love to be your adventure buddy. Whether it’s a walk, a hike in the mountains, a trip to the beach, or even running errands like a trip to the grocery store or hanging out at the local coffee shop, Trooper is ready to go wherever you want to take him.
If you are looking for a calm, gentle, and mellow fellow to accompany you on all your adventures, Trooper is the dog for you. Trooper is the perfect companion for someone who wants a sweet, low-key dog with a lot of love to share.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Trooper is not the type to rush up to strangers for affection, but he loves people and is happy to accept love and pets when offered.
Other tips and tidbits: Trooper was born on 1/23/2017.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.
To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.
Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
Thank you for considering CPR.
