My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tucker came into rescue with a couple of other dogs. The lady who brought them to us said they were being sold in the parking lot of a Walmart. She offered the people some money and got the dogs. They were all in terrible shape and were matted, very underweight and anemic. The lady said she couldn't leave them there like that but she also couldn't keep them long term either. She got them clipped up and asked us if we could find them a loving home. Of course, we said we would because they all deserved a home where they are get spoiled rotten. The lady did not know their ages so we asked the vet to guesstimate. They thought that Tucker was about a year old and he looks to be a shih tzu mix. He is absolutely adorable and has such a spunky, happy personality! He loves to bounce around and just be the center of it all! Tucker is crate trained but we make no guarantees about housebroken. He has gotten along well with our other small dogs and does well with older kids. He should be fine with cats but we don't have any to test him with. He loves to play and he loves his food! He enjoys living in comfort and being spoiled. Tucker saw the vet back in November 2024 when he had his yearly vetting completed. He was too anemic to be neutered then so he went back on 1/6/25 and was neutered. In November, Tucker was found to have an eye ulcers which we treated. It was resolved when we rechecked him on 1/6/25. He was heartworm and fecal negative and was started on Simparica Trio for heartworm prevention and flea control. Tucker does have a cherry eye in one eye. It is not anything that affects his health and is only a cosmetic issue. It does not bother him. Fixing it could damage his tear ducts so not worth the risk since it doesn't affect him medically. He is a sweet boy who is a fun little dog who will make a wonderful companion!
If interested in giving Tucker his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Tucker's adoption fee will be $400 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Tucker based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.

More about this rescue

We are a small rescue started in September 2004. To date, we have adopted out over 1,000 dogs and cats who may not have had a second chance. We rescue the majority of our pets from kill shelters and have them thoroughly vetted prior to going to their new homes. All of our pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm checked(dogs) and dewormed. We also microchip our dogs so that they can always find their way home. Big and small, we work to rehome them all. We are always in need of donations so if you can help us to help our pets, please contact us! The more people who get involved, the more pets that we can save! You can also see our pets and/or fill out our adoption application on www.petfinder.com. We look forward to hearing from you and making that "forever match"!
