Possum entered Riverside County Department of Animal Services as a stray during the holidays. When he wasn't claimed, we scooped him up on January 13th to become a Frosted Faces. Possum is estimated to be 9 years old and weighs 12.5 lbs.
Possum went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn about him in a home environment while he got all the love & pampering that he deserves! He earned a rave review from his Fling Mom:
"Possum was totally chill. He would curl up on a dog bed while I was working from home or be perfectly content in the crate if I needed to leave. While he was always happy to go for a walk, I never felt like I needed to get him outdoors to blow off energy. The longest walk we did was along Sunset Cliffs and he had no problem with endurance for about 2 miles. At night, he was very snuggly and would ask to be lifted onto the couch or bed. He slept through the night.
I did not notice any separation anxiety. Possum did not bark AT ALL during the two weeks I had him even though my other dog would bark at the doorbell.
Possum seemed to enjoy getting a lot of love and attention from all my friends. He did not mind being picked up and did not fuss during bath time or getting his paws wiped and nails clipped.
Possum is so good with other dogs! I have another chihuahua mix and was also flinging a large Frosted Face at the same time. Possum also met our friends' 200lb English Mastiff. He treated every dog with respect during meals and treat time. He didn't seem intimidated by the larger dogs and even seemed playful with the Mastiff! He encountered various dogs on our walks and did not have any negative reactions at all.
Regarding house-training, we started off with a belly band wrap, but as Possum started to get accustomed to the flow of the house, I started trusting him more without one. He could hold it for up to 8 hours overnight without an issue. He also did not have any accidents in the crate.
Possum is AWESOME. He's a very easy dog to love!"
Possum is back on-site and ready to meet his forever family. Might that be you?
Drop by any day of the week between 10 AM and 3 PM to meet this special little guy!
