Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Don’t let Fritz’s age fool you! He can keep up with the best of us! He is a 6 to 7 year old Dachshund mix that weighs 18 pounds and arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/14. He has a large gash/scar on his left hip. He also has an unusual gait when he walks or runs. He sort of swings his legs out. It works for him and he gets along fine. I’m wondering if that scar from an old injury has something to do with it. He has been seen by our vet and is on anti-inflammatory medicine and pain medication. It doesn’t seem to bother him. He loves walks and trots right along beside you. Then he does a little dance to let you know he wants to get up on your lap. He’s a lapdog wannabe! He’s sweet, somewhat frisky, affectionate, adorable, and seeks affection. A staff member commented that she thought he was housebroken. I think so too. He didn’t have a problem meeting other dogs. A small dog like this needs to be an inside dog. He would curl up beside you or on your lap while you watch TV or read a book
