Meet Bernie! â¤ï¸

Bernie is a loyal and protective companion who’s looking for a patient and loving home. Raised since he was a puppy, Bernie has been a dedicated friend to his owner, who sadly can no longer care for him due to medical conditions.

At first, Bernie can be a bit standoffish and protective, but once he gets to know you, he’s all love—expect plenty of kisses and affection! He does best when kept away from visitors until he feels comfortable. Bernie has lived with other dogs and could adapt well with the right canine companions, though his compatibility with cats is unknown.

Bernie could benefit from leash training to help him become the best version of himself. With a caring and understanding family, Bernie is sure to thrive and bring lots of joy to his new home.

All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months). All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. To adopt you must have a photo ID and proof of your current address. If not on your ID then bring in a bill with your name and your current address. If you rent you must provide a lease clearly stating the pet policy or provide a name and phone number for your landlord so that we may confirm the pet policy. If you own your home you may provide a mortgage statement or property tax bill for proof.

You must be 18 years or older to adopt.

If you wish to adopt a dog and have other dog(s) at home, please bring them with you to the shelter so that they may meet. Even if your dog is wonderful with other dogs, many of the dogs at the shelter have come in as strays so we have no history on them and need to be sure they get along with your pet(s).
