My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Misty is an 8-month-old, 33-pound Boxer mix with a playful spirit and a heart full of love. Despite being deaf, Misty is a quick learner and would thrive in a home with another dog who can help guide and teach her. She has plenty of energy to burn, as expected from her young age. Misty absolutely loves other dogs and enjoys playing with them, although she can be a bit too playful with cats, chasing them in an attempt to play. She is learning basic commands like “sit” and how to go into her kennel when you point to it. Potty-trained but in need of regular breaks, Misty prefers not to be left outside alone—she’ll head back to the door quickly if you or another dog aren’t with her.

Curious and sweet, Misty is just discovering the joy of toys and is eager to share her zest for life with her forever family. She hasn’t been around children yet but would likely do well with those who understand her playful nature, including her tendency to jump up when excited. Outgoing and affectionate, Misty adores meeting new people and is ready to give all her love to someone who will return it. If you’re looking for an energetic, loving companion who will melt your heart, Misty might be the perfect match! Bcaaofnj.org

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.
