Mac A429180

Located At: Sonoma County Animal Services

Description: I am a neutered male, black and white Alaskan Malamute mix.

Age: I am estimated to be about 4 years old.

Weight: I weigh approximately 80 pounds.

More Info: I have been at the shelter since Sep 21, 2024.

Mac is a large Malamute mix with a gentle nature. Though he was initially a bit timid in the kennel, once leashed, he becomes more relaxed and enjoys staying close, seeking attention. Mac is easy to leash and walks at a moderate pace, often trotting alongside you without pulling or jumping. He’s not overly interested in food or toys but loves affection, often returning for more cuddles after running around the yard. He enjoys being brushed and gets along well with other dogs, playing briefly before coming back for love. Mac is a friendly companion looking for a home where he can continue to build confidence and feel safe and cherished.

More about this rescue

We are a group of people dedicated to rescuing dogs from crisis situations, some of which include euthanasia by animal shelters, neglect and other forms of abuse, or "free to a good home" ads, which result in dogs being bounced from one home to another, or being acquired by animal brokers ("bunchers") and sold to research laboratories where they are used for testing then discarded ("cruelty industries").

NBCR&P works primarily with 5 herding breeds, and herding breed mixes. On occasion, NBCR&P also rescues and places other breeds. We foster our dogs in a home environment, rather than a kennel, if at all possible. We take pride in our promise that at any time and for any reason in the dog's life, if the need arises, he or she has a safe place with us ("return to rescue" policy).
