My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a gentle, friendly, purry, and loving boy? Check out Smokie! Smokie and his friend Dutchess, were rescued from an overcrowded NC shelter. Smokie was a little perturbed from the travel when he first arrived to us, but it didn't take long at all for his true colors to show.

This adorable guy loves rolling around and rubbing all over you, and he has the softest spot ever for a good catnip mouse or kicker toy - those are the BEST! He is easy to pick up, pet, and handle. He'd love a home with lots of human affection and interaction. He also does well with other cats (with proper introductions!) - he and Dutchess are being fostered together and could be adopted together, or he could go as a solo cat, or likely to a home with another cat-friendly cat. We think he would do great with respectful kiddos of any age. He has not yet met a dog, but may be able to warm up to a cat-savvy pup, with proper intros.

Smokie is estimated to be about five years old. He has been neutered, dewormed, flea treated, vaccinated, microchipped, and has tested FIV/FeLV-. He also recently received a dental cleaning. He is currently on a sensitive skin/stomach (non-rx) diet as recommended by his previous foster in North Carolina, and is doing well on it. Are you looking for a gentle loverboy to cuddle with all winter long? Apply today!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Typically we talk a little with potential adopters to find a cat who is a good fit before sharing the application.

2.

Approve Application

We check over the application including checking vet references and doing landlord checks.

3.

Interview

We spend more time chatting with the adopters to specifically go over any questions from the application and details about the specific cat.

4.

Meet the Pet

Potential adopters have a meet and greet with the cat or kitten in the foster home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

At the meet and greet, if all goes well, the adoption contract can be signed, the fee can be paid, and the pet can go home!

6.

Pay Fee

7.

Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

We try to do our best to make sure we find good fitting, responsible homes, without wasting a lot of our time. Our app has a lot of screening questions which help eliminate potential adopters who might not be serious (they usually just don't return the app), or not a good fit, which is why the in depth interview happens once the app is returned.

More about this rescue

We are a small but dedicated 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue specializing in making one person's garbage kitten another person's forever cat.

Our mission is to reduce feline suffering and overpopulation using a combination of TNR and adoptions. We foster and socialize whenever we have the resources to do so, including behavioral cats and kittens who might otherwise just be candidates for TNR.
