PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.
1/14/25 Sanford is in need of a foster home or adopter. When i say this is a WONDERFUL dog, I mean it with all my heart. This guy is the easiest dog ever. He bothers absolutely nothing. He is so content to just curl up in his bed and sleep all day. He is almost totally house trained (only a couple accidents when I didn't let him out fast enough). He's quiet and you wouldn't even know he's there, except when he hears a car start up, because he wants to ride. He is soooo submissive to other dogs which brings me to the reason for looking for another foster/adopter. My dogs all have strong personalities. No one has attacked him or anything like that. But one growl from one of them, and he immediately goes to his crate or the bathroom closet that he has claimed as his own. It breaks my heart for him to be so secluded. Tonight, for the first time, I got him to come into the living room with us while we were having some down time. I was so proud of him for finally having the courage to come in here! He was doing great, until he came to rest his head on the back of the couch behind me, and Thelma snapped at him. He immediately ran to the bathroom and now won't come back. It's so sad. He wants to be with people. He LOVES ALL PEOPLE. And he would love a dog companion who is mellow like him, that would accept him. He is very sensitive and gets his feelings hurt when my dogs are ugly to him, and it breaks my heart so much to see him hide away, spending all day and night alone. He deserves better than this. He has the kindest, most gentle soul, and all the love in the world to give. His only negative is that he will bolt if you don't have a fence. I don't think he really wants to get away, he just seems to have that hound mentality and follows his nose, which could be dangerous for him. So a secure fence would be best. It doesn't have to be super tall, ours in only 4ft in front and he has never tried to jump or climb it. Other than that, he is the perfect companion and friend.
Sanford came to us with a badly broken jaw. He is estimated 10 years old. We've had his jaw repaired, but he still has a tooth that sticks out and his bottom lip is droopy. This is just how he is now, and I've told him it only makes him more interesting and handsome. He does have heartworm and has just finished his 30 days of doxy, so he will be getting his injections to get rid of the heartworms this week. We hope and pray for no complications with that. We just want him to be healthy. He is the sweetest, most kind hearted dog I've ever met. And he deserves to spend the rest of his life surrounded by a family who loves him, not secluded in a crate or closet all alone. If you would consider opening your home to this distinguished gentleman, please message me with any questions or more info. Whoever ends up with him will be so lucky. He will love you with his whole heart.
