Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Heston is a 5-month-old, affectionate fluff ball of love looking for his forever home!
Heston is especially loving in the morning, and will wake you up with a nice loving hug. After he eats breakfast he enjoys his very restful morning nap. Midday he likes to perch at the window next to his foster's desk, monitoring the squirrels and the human’s work productivity. Occasionally he'll step on the keyboard to correct his fosters grammar like the helpful boy he is. Before dinner he tries to play with the dog; hiding around corners or batting at her tail. After dinner he plays with his feather toys until it's time for bed. He’s a snuggler, so he either lays on his foster's lap to enjoy a TV episode or movie, or by the pillow when the day is over and it’s time for bed.
This orange boy is the definition of chill. When he's in play mode he is energetic, but otherwise he seems to be more of the observant, curious explorer type. His cutest unique quirk is when he climbs up onto his hind legs to drink out of the dog's water bowl. He also likes playing with dog toys!
Heston currently lives with one 6-year-old high energy dog. He is comfortable around her even when she is barking at the mailman and enjoys playing hide-and-seek with her and her tail. Her foster has friends over on occasion, and Heston boy always greets them with confidence. He is lots of things, but shy is not one of them!
Because Heston is FeLV+, he cannot live with another cat unless it is also FeLV+. FeLV is not contagious to humans or dogs but can be transferred to other cats. Annual vet visits, regular immunizations, and your love will help Heston maintain a normal, healthy, and happy life. As long as Heston’s forever home includes plenty of windows for him to look out of and no other FeLV negative cats, Heston would thrive in most any home!
Overall, Heston is the best little orange boy who is going to bring so much love into his forever home. In exchange for lots of affection he promises to bring big smiles and lots of happiness to his forever humans. Apply below to meet this lovely boy. — You can read more about FeLV here: https://tinyurl.com/ycxhwcmu

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.
Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.
Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer
How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
