My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We are Suzie Q and Muso, two loving, 1-2 year old kitties looking for our forever home!

We are young and enjoy playing. We are curious about all the new things around us and are well behaved. We like all toys, especially the kind on a stick with a feather. We can even have loads of fun in a paper bag or cardboard box. Catnip gives us the zoomies!

Our ideal home would be one where we feel safe and have room to play. We are great at entertaining each other but hope our new family's energy level matches ours and they will interact with us. Having a designated place to sharpen our claws and a perch to sit on would be amazing! We would also love it if you let us watch kitty-cat TV from time to time and provide a small basket of toys for our amusement.

Sadly, we came from a home filled with addiction, filth and a lot of people coming and going. We are so glad to be rescued and are relearning to trust humans, so we are still a little nervous and jumpy with sudden movements.

But all of that is behind us now! We have been safe and happy with our Pet Haven foster and are so ready to find our forever home. We are confident that after a little time, we will gain trust and will be braver every day. We don't meow very much but when we say something, you will laugh as it comes out as a quiet little peep.

We would be fine with a new stepbrother, sister or both, but we are not sure we've ever met a dog. We would love a new home filled with love where we feel safe and will love you right back. We came into our foster home with our mommy (Tasha), two older brothers (Scooter 1 & Scooter 2) and an older sister (Ninnie). If you are looking for a bigger kitty family, please check out their bios and let Pet Haven know. We have been spayed and neutered, fully vaccinated and are litterbox trained. Not one accident!

Our rough start is behind us, and we are eager for all the cozy days ahead. If you’re ready to bring us (and/or any of our other family members) into your family, we would love to meet you!

Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
