My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jinxy: A Remarkable Rescue Puppy

Jinxy is a truly special girl who has already overcome so much in her short life. Born in June 2024, she was found by GSRNC at a shelter, shut down and wary of all except a select few experienced handlers. But despite the rough start, Jinxy is proving every day that she’s ready to bloom into the incredible dog she’s meant to be.

At 30 pounds and now under the loving care of her foster mom, who is also a trainer, Jinxy has been making huge strides in learning to trust not only others but also herself. In just a few weeks, she transformed from a timid pup hiding in her crate to one eagerly bursting out the moment the door opens. Her skittish tendencies are still there, but they’re fading a little more each day, and her confidence grows with every milestone.

Jinxy thrives on training sessions, especially those that involve a clicker and food rewards. She loves engaging in freeshaping games where her creativity shines, whether it’s climbing on pedestals or giving adorable nose boops to her foster mom.

Exploring the world on walks is another favorite activity, and she’s showing more bravery with every adventure. Jinxy’s playful personality is beginning to shine through, and it’s clear she has so much potential just waiting to be unlocked.

What Jinxy Needs
Jinxy needs a little more time of confidence-building and trust work. Her ideal forever home will be with someone who has patience, understanding, and experience working with shy or cautious dogs. Her adopter should be ready to build a strong, trusting relationship while also meeting the needs of a high-energy, intelligent dog who may thrive in a working or training-focused environment.

Her Personality in a Snapshot
• Energetic, Playful, Independent, and Highly treat motivated

• Cautious and Fearful around people

• Favorite Activities: Exploring on walks, training (especially with food rewards), and playing with other dogs

Jinxy is a shining example of resilience and willingness to trust again. With the right home, she’ll continue to grow into the loyal, intelligent, and loving companion she’s destined to be. If you’re looking for a dog who’s as much a partner in adventure as she is a project in progress, keep an eye on Jinxy – she just might be your perfect match.

Jinxy is a level 4 dog and adopters must be puppy approved.

Adoption Process

Our adoption process is designed to help you and the right dog find each other. Our goal is to place each dog into a permanent, safe, and loving home.

To adopt a German Shepherd Dog from us, you must:

1. Live in Northern California.
2. Complete an Adoption Questionnaire, either online, or by mail. If you do not own your home, you must also have your landlord complete the Landlord Letter.
3. Be interviewed by an adoption counselor.
4. Allow a home visit by an adoption counselor.
5. Choose, and be chosen by, the right dog.
6. With our approval, sign our Adoption Agreement, and pay the associated fee.
7. At the time of adoption we also collect a deposit which is refunded after completion of two training sessions.

After we receive your online Adoption Questionnaire, we will call you to begin the adoption process. We encourage potential adopters to come to one or more Adoption Days, because that is the best way to meet several German Shepherds and to find your new companion. If you attend an Adoption Day and choose a dog, you may be able to adopt the same day, if all adoption requirements are met.

If you cannot come to any Adoption Day, we can still assist you, this may take longer because the people who will help you are volunteers who usually have jobs, and scheduling meetings with dogs can be complex because our dogs live in many homes and kennels.

We do not adopt to homes outside of Northern California.
