My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

👑 Meet Princess! 👑

This stunning, young, medium-sized pittie has been through so much in her short life, but she's ready for a fresh start. Princess was rescued by animal control along with several other dogs from deplorable conditions, and it's clear she was used for breeding. Despite her past, she has a heart full of love and is eager to find a family who will cherish her.

Princess has the potential to go home with another dog and would do best in a household with older kids (teens) who can respect her boundaries as she continues to build trust. She can be a bit hand shy, which isn't surprising given her rough start, but with patience and kindness, she'll blossom into the loving companion we know she is.

This sweet girl deserves to be treated like the princess she is! If you're ready to give her the royal treatment and the loving home she's been waiting for, come meet her today!

More about this shelter

The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.

For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused, or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.

The Society is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization and we take pride in our devotion to the thousands of animals that come through our doors looking for a better life.
