Bernie came to the shelter on 9/20/24 with significant burns on both his back feet. Bernie had such infected feet that he had to have emergency surgery to treat his back feet. After the intial surgery he had to have daily bandage changes. We realized rather quickly that he was ear tipped and neutered, which meant he was a TNR cat! He was someone`s barn kitty that was badly injured. He is a realy sweetie. He just layed in his foster parent`s arms while we did bandage changes. Bernie loves just to sit in your lap and be held. He was almost healed from the burns when his eyes became bloodshot and appearerd blind. Off Bernie went to the eye specialist to get examined. The veterinarian found that his eyes were very inflammed and felt that Bernie had developed Ocular FIP. FIP treatment commenced. He is doing well and his eyesight is recovering. Bernie has a friend named Bianca. Bianca was from a feral colony where she decided that she did not want to be feral anymore! She became an easier to handle cat, but she is still struggling with being picked up. She is still getting used to people and will take some time. Once in your lap she is great and purrs but will take some patience. Bernie and Bianca would do best together. Bernie is very social and loves to purr when held. Bernie brings the best out of Bianca. They love to play with toys and and wand toys. They especially love feather toys. Please ask my foster mom to meet us. kw
