My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Banks

Shih Tzu Mix, 10 years old, Neutered Male

Available for foster to adopt pending dental cleaning.

Hi there! I'm Banks, and I’d like to think my story is just beginning.

I recently spent some tough days wandering the streets of Chicago, my fur all tangled and my skin hurting something fierce. But you know what they say about dark clouds having silver linings? Mine came the day Animal Control found me.

The amazing folks at C.A.R.E. spotted me at Chicago Animal Care and Control, and would you believe it? They fell head over heels for my quirky smile (I've got some adorably crooked teeth!) and my gentle soul. At around 10 years young, I've got plenty of love left to give, even if my muzzle's a bit frosty these days.

Listen, I'm not asking for much in my golden years. My dream retirement plan is pretty simple: a cozy couch, some tasty treats now and then, and most importantly, a human to call my own. Nothing makes me happier than being close to my person – I'm a certified professional snuggler!

I know I might be a senior, but there's something special about us older pups. We know what we want in life, and what I want is to share my heart with someone who understands that love doesn't have an age limit. Could you be the one to give this sweet old boy his forever home?

Love and tail wags,
Banks

Our fees include a full medical exam by a veterinarian. This includes a Feline Leukemia and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) test for cats, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, deworming and Spay/Neuter. Dogs receive a Heartworm Check, Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, Canine Flu Vaccine, deworming, and Kennel Cough preventative. Our modest adoption fees do not cover the procedures and vet work that we provide the animals. We fundraise to make up the difference. Any ongoing medical needs that C.A.R.E. is aware of are explained fully, (including daily medicine costs), to the potential adopter, and become the responsibility of the adopter.
