My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I’m Louie - I’m a 3 year old, male Pit Bull Terrier and weighs about 54 lbs. I absolutely love snuggling, playing with toys, and any kind of exercise! I am a high energy dog who struggles with separation anxiety, mild skin irritation in the summer, and general anxiety. I can be a very anxious boy, but I swear I’m the best cuddler you’ll ever meet and I give the best kisses. My perfect match would be someone who loves to feed me treats and teach me new things, and someone who is patient and loving with a lot of room to run around and play outside! Food and attention are both fantastic motivators for me… I learn new things really fast! Man, I love food. I do need to be an only child because I struggle getting along with other animals. I’ve never been around children, but I just get so excited to meet new people it can be hard for me to calm down sometimes… but that’s okay! I have an incredible amount of love to give to everyone and I will spend all day admiring every single thing you do.

Unfortunately, I don’t know a lot about my past and neither does anyone else because I was adopted from the Dallas Animal Shelter in April of 2023 where I was placed because they found me roaming the streets all by myself! Thankfully I was already housebroken and crate trained when I was adopted, and my owner taught me how to sit, lay down, shake, and how to wait for my food! I do eat pretty fast though, so I have a special bowl. I’m alright walking on the leash, but I tend to walk you if you let me haha!

I am looking for a new home because unfortunately I don’t get along with my younger brother in the house.

I’m really, really sad to be having to find a new home, but it’s for the best. I’m looking for a temporary home and/or my forever home!! Unfortunately, I need to leave as soon as possible so I can keep myself and my friends safe. I can’t wait to meet you and start this new phase of my life!!

Louie is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption.

Additional adoption info

Adopting from The Love Pit means gaining a family member. It means gaining a network of pit bull advocates, ready to support you and provide you with all of the resources we can. Most importantly, adopting from The Love Pit saves lives. When you adopt, you're saving the life of your own dog, opening space in their foster home for another shelter dog in need, and creating space in the shelter kennel for a dog whose life would have otherwise been on the line. Your thanks for all the good you've done? Lots of love and pit bull kisses to enjoy for years to come.

Go meet their pets

We have monthly adoption events at different locations in Dallas and Fort Worth which are announced on our social media pages and will also be posted on our website.

We will also set up an appointment with you to meet the dog of your choosing.
