My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This adorable guy is Luca, 11 week old Aussie mix. He is learning all the great things in life after being rescued from the shelter. He's a very playful and active puppy and will need a family willing to continue working on his training and give him lots of attention and activity as well as socialization with both humans and other animals. He is a little shy at first but will bond quickly to his new human. He loves to cuddle and snuggle in his foster mom's lap. He loves chasing a ball and his frog squeaky toy is his favorite! He is doing great with crate training and sleeps all night in his crate, and is comfortable crated when home alone. He's catching on to potty training and goes potty outside most of the time. He uses potty pads in his crate if left too long between outside breaks. He rarely has accidents in the house. He would love a playful dog friend in his new home. He is interested in cats and will chase after them because they seem like fun to play with too, but with redirection he will leave them alone. In true puppy style he likes to nibble and mouth anything he can. His new family will need to continue working with him on what he can chew on and children in his new home need to be a little older so they understand puppy interactions and behavior. Luca will be a great hiking and adventure buddy, he's learning to walk with a leash and doing well with that too. Luca is such a sweet and loveable guy, he will be a great addition to his new family!

Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
