Hello everyone, meet Icarus! This sweet boy came to us as a stray, so his past remains a mystery but what we can see is a gentle sweetheart who is ready to start his new life. He is initially a bit shy but warms up very quickly and is happy to have some attention and even sometimes does little tippy tappy happy feet. He's still working on learning some of his manners, like walking on a leash but he's a smart boy and ready to learn. He hasn't met any dogs here at the Adoption Center yet, but as always, we're happy to do a meet-and-greet prior to adoption if you have any dogs at home. Think Icarus could be the one for you? More about this shelter

The Woodford Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal organization located in Versailles, Kentucky. We provide shelter and care to the homeless and unwanted animals in Woodford County, surrounding counties, as well as animals from other states. We care for pets of all breeds and ages, with no time limit on their stay, and we are proud to maintain an annual placement rate of over 95%.

With no government funding, we are completely dependent on private contributions to continue to provide care to around a thousand animals each year.

Adoption fees include spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations and deworming while at our Adoption Center, feline leukemia and FIV screening for cats, heartworm screening for dogs, a microchip with a lifetime registration, a free veterinary checkup, and a starter bag of food.
