My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Alfie is being fostered in Cincinnati OH

Meet Alfie!  This STUNNING blue merle male standard Australian Shepherd is just over a year old and weighs 35lbs.  This boy is a SUPER sweet cuddle muffin that is also a fiery ball of energy.  Alfie is a small standard Aussie and we imagine will stay on the smaller side even at his full weight, maybe getting to 45lbs.  This boy LOVES to go for walks, play with sqeaky toys, and play with his best buddy, his foster fur sibling that is the same age and size, and curl up next to his foster momma.  This tells us he has a nice off switch too! YAY!

Alfie needs a dog savvy experienced human for his forever person.  He was in a home before coming to rescue and he was WAY to much dog for them.  Because of this, he came to us with some undesired behavioral traits which his foster mom and him have been working diligently on with a trainer.  He has come SOOOO very far and is finally ready to find his forevers!  When he first came to us, he had no manners or any self control.  He has learned a TON!!!! His foster mom has worked really hard with him on leash walking, not barking at things that frighten him and getting used to lots of stimuli.  He will be a work in progress and will need a human that will continue the work/training that has been done in his foster home.  This is a MUST for his forever home.

We believe a home without children would be best for him.  When on leash, he is a bit of a different dog, seemingly unsure of himself and still learning.  When he is off leash, he enjoys meeting and greeting people and other dogs. He is a young Aussie that would love to have another playful dog and a fenced yard to play in and someone that will continue to positively train this boy and help raise him into a well rounded dog. If you are looking for a devoted companion, who will curl up with you, go on long walks or runs, maybe agility or another dog sport, this is your boy!!!

Alfie is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, negative for tick borne diseases, microchipped and taking monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
