My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Zack, a one-year-old neutered male Jindo mix with a beautiful brown coat, weighing 15.5kg.

Zack is a little shy around new people but quickly warms up, especially if you have treats! Once he feels comfortable, he enjoys being petted and will even roll over for belly rubs and smother you in kisses. He can be vocal when strangers visit, but his barking doesn’t last long. Zack shows a preference for women over men and might be startled by sudden movements or loud noises from children under 13. Despite this, he’s gentle and can be picked up without issue.

When it comes to other dogs, Zack is a social butterfly. He loves greeting and playing with canine friends, whether they’re familiar or new. Zack thrives in energetic play, particularly with dogs his size or smaller. With male dogs, he enjoys roughhousing, while with females, he’s more gentle and polite. Zack’s playful nature and strong social skills make him a great match for a home with another active dog who can keep up with his energy.

Zack hasn’t been exposed to cats yet, so his reactions to feline friends are unknown. He has a slightly higher-than-average energy level, so daily outdoor activities are a must to help him relax indoors. On walks, Zack is still learning the ropes. He sometimes pulls on the leash or hesitates when guided, but he’s incredibly smart and has already shown progress after just one training session. With consistency, Zack will become a fantastic walking companion.

Zack doesn’t guard food from people or other dogs. Like a big puppy, he still loves chewing on toys and fabrics, so some puppy-proofing may be needed. Zack experiences mild car sickness and can’t yet jump into a vehicle on his own, but he’s otherwise eager to explore the world. A lover of the outdoors, Zack prefers doing his business outside, making him well-suited for a family that enjoys active lifestyles.

Zack’s journey began in a small village, his sibling were found wandering in a tunnel. Both pups were brought to the local shelter in poor condition, suffering from severe mange.

*** Zack’s journey began in a small village, his sibling were found wandering in a tunnel. Both pups were brought to the local shelter in poor condition, suffering from severe mange. While Zack recovered well, his sibling sadly passed away. Left alone, Zack struggled to trust people and eventually faced euthanasia. But fate had other plans! During his final moments, a shelter volunteer pleaded for his life. Instead of euthanasia, Zack was neutered and given a second chance to find a loving home—and here he is today, ready to start a new chapter.

This brave, resilient boy has overcome so much and is now ready to find a family who will shower him with the love and care he deserves. Could you be the one to give Zack his forever home?

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.

Our dog rescue work depends on our flight volunteers. They help us safely bring our dogs from Korea to Vancouver or Toronto airports, where the dogs will find loving forever or foster homes.
