My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Redd is an absolute gem! He is a huge snuggle bug and loves nothing more than to curl up on your lap on the couch whenever you let him—he especially loves scratches on his head and chin. He is outgoing with strangers and makes friends with new people quickly, and his easygoing nature makes it easy to love him! He’s not picky about food and will definitely take the opportunity to grab a human snack if you’re not careful, but he is willing to be redirected to other things. He’s a little skittish around loud noises (such as people passing by outside the hallway and vacuums) and is working on using a scratch pad but he’s learning. Redd is such a loving and sweet guy and will be a great companion!

This cat would prefer to be adopted alone and be the only cat in the home.

Redd was rescued with dental issues and had surgery. In lieu of an adoption fee, we would be thrilled for a potential adopter to provide a larger adoption donation and/or assistance crowdsourcing funds towards their necessary vet bills if possible.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
