My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bugaboo is a sweet Chihuahua/Dachshund mix whose owner passed away in a car accident. A friend of the owner reached out to one of our fosters, and we couldn't say no to this sweet baby. Bugaboo is 8 years old and weighs 7 pounds. She gets along with her foster brothers and sisters, big and small, and also gets along with our cat. She's a sweet, cuddly girl who loves hanging out with the humans on the couch. She is mostly house trained but has had a couple accidents when the weather outside is bad. Bug loves going outside in our fenced yard with the other dogs. She does a little table surfing. I need to work with her on that, but she's so cute, I just let her.

In a very very small number of situations, a home check may be needed if we have any questions or concerns after processing the application.

Meet the Pet

A meet and greet will be arranged for approved applicants with you and your entire family including your current pets.

Adult Dog: 375.00
Senior Dog: 200.00
Puppy: 375.00 + 100.00 refundable spay/neuter deposit
All adopters must complete application and be approved by the rescue.

In many areas of the country, especially in the South, the situation for animals is desperate: Chained outside and starving, homeless and running loose, or just simply no longer wanted and abandoned in an overburdened and underfunded facility that can’t possibly take another. NorthStar Pet Rescue was founded in 2017, and although we might be a relatively new name among New Jersey animal rescues, you may recognize some of us from the work we’ve done volunteering with other rescues to help animals over the past decade. We are 100% dedicated to operating in an safe, transparent, and ethical manner and to ensuring the best veterinary practices are followed with regards to the care and transport of our animals.
