Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hi there, I’m Dorothy! No, I don’t hail from Kansas – I’m from Alabama and so far Minnesota is like a happy dream. My sisters and I were abandoned as small puppies and I’m so grateful to be living in a house with fosters who take care of me. Though they aren’t sure if I’ve lived in a house before, I’ve settled right in. My fosters weren’t expecting me to be potty trained, but guess what – I am! I also sleep nice and quietly in my kennel at night until it’s time to start our day. My fosters think I’m super smart. In addition to being potty trained and kennel ready, I also learned my name and how to sit in a day. You see, sitting when asked gets me treat-o’s and I love those things!
I also love having a big bin of toys to play with and bones to chew. I show my excitement for toys by throwing them in the air to chase and “talking” to them by making gremlin sounds. I can be chatty, especially when I’m happy which is often. My foster say it’s silly – I call it personality. I have a penchant for mischief……not the naughty kind, but the kind where I’ll help you by relocating socks around the house. Don’t worry though, if I move one, I’m pretty good about eventually bringing the other one along with it 😊. In Alabama, I was used to having my sisters and other dogs my size to play with. The senior dog I live with isn’t up for that and I do a good job respecting her space, though I might try to sneak a few kisses on her to see if she’ll change her mind. In my new environment I really like dog friends but appreciate when new dogs don’t “come in too hot” to meet me. Once we have a couple minutes to get acquainted, I hope they’ll want to play zoomies with me! After some good play time, I’m content snuggling on the couch with you. My fosters had to teach me what snuggles are and it’s one of the best new things I’ve learned!
While I’m liking the good life with my fosters, they tell me there’s no place like (my own) home. Can’t wait to find out for myself! -------------------------------------------- All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption.
Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.

The mission of Warrior Dog Rescue is to save the dogs that are homeless, left abandoned in shelters, are surrendered by their owners, those that are being abused and neglected, and those that are left wandering. We are committed to providing them the medical care they need, helping them to overcome their past by providing them loving, educated foster homes, finding them their perfect forever home by means of a thorough adoption process, and guiding them on their journey into their new life. They all deserve a “good dog life… every single one of them.”
Warrior Dog Rescue will be a model rescue by partnering with overcrowded shelters that need to make room for more abandoned dogs. We will continue to educate others about responsible dog ownership in regards to safety, spay/neuter, nutrition, obedience, socializing, abuse, and neglect. We acknowledge that we will have a role in this industry to take the lead on providing awareness to others in the community and across the country. Every dog will know what it feels like to be loved till the end of their life.
