Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Please meet Roger, he is an eight-year-old Lab / Retriever mix.
He was found outside the Animal center running around with another dog and obviously injured. Him and the other dog did get into a tiff once brought inside the shelter. Hence he can be a bit timid and shy when approached but he has been through a lot the last few weeks. We are not really sure how long his friend and he were running loose.
Now that his wounds are healing and he has time had time to decompress, he has opened up and allowed his true personality to shine for our volunteers! He is very vocal in his kennel because he wants to get your attention. He follows his nose while on walks, taking in his surroundings. In our play yard, he acts younger than his age by galloping around playfully. After his frolicking, he always ends up back at your side, wanting attention. He loves to lean against your legs for hugs and he has tolerated a harness well.
Roger is ready for a loving family who appreciates his gentle senior personality.
Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $400 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment.
If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our Volunteer Matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Roger 256544."
He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Primary Color: Brown Weight: 51 Age: 8yrs 1mths 0wks
