My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Leonidas, a sweet and mellow soul who`s always ready to play. His cuddly nature is irresistible, and his friendly demeanor makes him a joy to be around. Leonidas is a gentle giant with a heart full of love and energy. His mellow nature is paired with a gentle spirit, making him the perfect playmate for children. He is incredibly affectionate with people, often seeking out cuddles and pats and just being close. If you have a dog, you`ll need to bring it to meet him because he is very picky about his canine companions. He lived with cats but they didn`t like him and he doesn`t understand why. He is not aggressive and has little to no prey drive when it comes to smaller creatures. He`s house trained, crate trained, and quiet, a humble companion who`ll be there to cheer you up after a long day. Though he can be a bit needy at times, it`s only because he`s eager to share his love. And while he`s got a knack for digging and escaping, it`s all in good fun. Leonidas is well-behaved, showcasing his good manners during playtime and mealtime alike. He weighs 50 pounds and knows the sit and down commands and generally walks well on a leash. He loves balls, tugging, running, and long walks. His gentle and loving demeanor, coupled with his playful energy, make him a wonderful pet for any family. Adopt Leonidas, and you`ll be gaining a loyal friend who`ll fill your life with love, laughter, and endless games of fetch. (tw 1/25/2025)

More about this shelter

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
