My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bodi, the happiest little rescue German Shepherd puppy you’ll ever meet—born around November 1, 2024, and immediately appointed as the self-proclaimed CEO of Joy and Snuggles. This affectionate goofball has mastered the art of being everyone’s favorite, charming all who meet him with his laid-back vibes and endless tail wags.

See this little munchkin in action!

Bodi is a toy connoisseur who can entertain himself for hours but politely declines the fine dining options of furniture and shoes. Sure, he’s “borrowed” a sneaker or two, but he always gives it back with a “Who, me?” grin. He’s even getting the hang of fetch—although, in true puppy fashion, sometimes the game is less “fetch” and more “keep-away.”

Food is Bodi’s love language, and he’s willing to perform his best tricks for a treat. He’ll sit, stay, and pretend to ignore that dog across the street if it means he gets a little something tasty. Plus, his soft mouth ensures he takes treats with the kind of politeness that would make Emily Post proud.

At night, Bodi sleeps like a champ on his mat near the bed, dreaming of the moonlit adventures he gets when his foster parents sneak him outside for a midnight potty break. During the day, crate training is still a “work in progress,” but hey—Bodi’s open to negotiation.

Bodi is a social butterfly who loves meeting people, sticking close to his humans, and ensuring no one sneaks off without him knowing. He’s got some classic shepherd instincts, like herding his people in the kitchen and walking on all sides of them simultaneously. (Footwork caution is advised!) He’s also the king of casual contact, often plopping down with a paw resting on your foot—just to remind you that you belong to him now.

This loyal, loving, happy pup will fill your life with laughter and companionship. Adopt Bodi, and prepare for endless joy, some strategic footwork, and a lifetime of paw-holding moments.

Bodi is a level 4 dog and the adopter must be puppy approved

Adoption Process

Our adoption process is designed to help you and the right dog find each other. Our goal is to place each dog into a permanent, safe, and loving home.

To adopt a German Shepherd Dog from us, you must:

1. Live in Northern California.
2. Complete an Adoption Questionnaire, either online, or by mail. If you do not own your home, you must also have your landlord complete the Landlord Letter.
3. Be interviewed by an adoption counselor.
4. Allow a home visit by an adoption counselor.
5. Choose, and be chosen by, the right dog.
6. With our approval, sign our Adoption Agreement, and pay the associated fee.
7. At the time of adoption we also collect a deposit which is refunded after completion of two training sessions.

After we receive your online Adoption Questionnaire, we will call you to begin the adoption process. We encourage potential adopters to come to one or more Adoption Days, because that is the best way to meet several German Shepherds and to find your new companion. If you attend an Adoption Day and choose a dog, you may be able to adopt the same day, if all adoption requirements are met.

If you cannot come to any Adoption Day, we can still assist you, this may take longer because the people who will help you are volunteers who usually have jobs, and scheduling meetings with dogs can be complex because our dogs live in many homes and kennels.

We do not adopt to homes outside of Northern California.
