Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Shiner lives by a simple mantra – eat, snuggle, sleep, repeat.
Shiner is house and crate trained. Not only is he quiet and calm in his crate overnight, he also loves to go there as a safe space during the day.
Shiner can be nervous in a new environment, but once he warms up, he is the most affectionate boy. He loves to cuddle and be loved on by his people. He also loves a long walk where he can do lots of sniffing and explore his environment. He will sometimes pull on the leash trying to reach something interesting, but he is learning and improving his leash manners every day.
Shiner is friendly and interested in other dogs, but he is also easily intimidated and frequently seeks refuge in his crate. He may benefit from a relationship with another dog to help build his confidence, but slow introductions will be key to making him comfortable.
Shiner is extremely food motivated and eager to please. He also loves to chew and de-fluff his stuff toys. While no stuffy is safe, he is not destructive toward other household items and will quickly drop anything he shouldn’t have when directed to do so.
Shiner is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. He is available through our foster-to-adopt program. In this program, you can take Shiner home, and Hope Animal Rescue will continue to pay for his care until his heartworm treatment is complete. Once he gets a clean bill of health, the adoption will be finalized.

Please visit www.hopeanimals.org/adopt to learn more about our adoption process and to complete an adoption application.
Adoption Fee includes spay/neuter*, microchipping, up-to-date vaccinations, and current heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.
*If pet is not old enough to be spayed or neutered prior to adoption, a $50.00 credit will be paid to your vet at the time of surgery.
We require a veterinary reference for current pet owners, and pets must be up to date on vaccines and heartworm preventative. We meet potential adopters in their homes and introduce the pets to the family's current pets to see if it is a good match. A copy of our adoption contract can be requested via email.
