My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Pea is just as his name implies! A wonderful, sweet fellow!
He is a 12-year-old, neutered male. He and his brother were surrendered to a
shelter by their owner. He has been treated for an ear infection and for a flea
infestation. He will be getting a full dental next week.
He’s keeping his breed recipe a secret but we think there is a dollop of Cavalier
spaniel, a measure of perhaps shih tzu and a pinch of good old Canadian mixy mutt.

Whatever he is, he is indeed scrumptious!
He sheds minimally and he loves to be brushed. He is good for his baths and
even enjoys the blow dryer. Because he does shed a little, he is not hypo-
allergenic.  He is overweight and is working hard to regain his boyish figure. He appears to
an allergy of some sort and is sharing a hypo diet with his foster brother and his
itching has improved greatly.

He is excellent with the foster's dog and two senior cats. He is particularly fond
of one of the cats and they can be seen snuggling and grooming each other. He
plays happily with his toys. He is a social boy and greets people and other dogs
very respectfully while on his walks. He has a sensitive trachea so walks well with
a harness.
Sweet Pea’s foster family are retired so they are able to provide him with the
frequent bathroom breaks he needs. He recently has learned to use a pee pad if
needed.
He was diagnosed with Lyme disease but shows no symptoms. It is believed this
could have happened months or even years ago and his body was able to produce
enough anti-bodies to combat this so it appears to be resolved.
He would be best suited to a home with easy access to a fenced yard. He is crated
when alone and overnight. He will often go to his crate for naps.
This joyous little soul is sure to brighten the life of his forever family!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our process begins with an online pre adoption questionnaire followed by a telephone interview
Once both have been completed we consider suitability and if we feel the adoption candidate is a potential match we arrange a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in
From there we schedule a home visit and check personal and veterinary references.

Go meet their pets

All our dogs are in foster homes so meet and greets are by appointment only

Foster Homes
Sadly, each new day brings a flood of emails and telephone pleas to help yet another abandoned dear dog. We try and help these displaced dogs through our rescue efforts and networking. We are always in search of new foster homes where a dog can be cared for and loved until a permanent home is found. Speaking of Dogs Rescue covers food, medical attention and all the supplies required for the dogs in foster care. Foster parents need be responsible and patient people who will provide a safe environment for our dogs. A foster contract must be signed. This is a serious responsibility; however the experience is very rewarding. If you can open your heart and home to a foster dog please contact us. We have a comprehensive Foster Manual available for people who are considering becoming a foster parent.
