Here's what the humans have to say about me:
“Oreo” has a very special story. She was rescued from the streets of downtown Tucson, Arizona where she was weaving in and out of traffic at a busy intersection. She did not have a collar nor tags and turns out she had been living on the street for quite a while. A dog lover was able to lure her into the car with bacon; she is very food motivated) and drove her (she seemed thoroughly happy and comfortable in the back seat) straight to the vet for an exam where she marched into the doctor’s office, wagging her tail like she owned the place. She does not have a microchip and is currently not spayed. She has a UTI which is being treated with antibiotics. She clearly lived in a home at one point because she is housebroken and immediately staked out a spot on her rescuer's sofa. She has proven to be a model houseguest; sweet, cuddly, gets along GREAT with other dogs; completely indifferent to cats. She LOVES having her belly rubbed.
Oreo is an australian cattledog/border collie. The vet says she’s 4-5 years old and she is tiny only weighs 25 lbs. which is small for the breed. This sweet girl was saved from a hard life on the streets and really deserves a safe and happy home in New York.
We require adopters to have a safe and secure backyard - not electric or Fido fences as they are not as safe at containing dogs or keeping other animals or people out. For these reasons we do not adopt to homes with electric or Fido fencing.
The adoption fee is $500, which includes age appropriate vaccines, microchip, monthly flea, tick and heart worm preventatives at time of adoption and age appropriate spay/neuter.

More about this rescue
Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based on Long Island NY. We rescue dogs and puppies who are at risk of being euthanized in high-kill facilities across the South. Every animal we rescue is quarantined where they get vaccinated and given any medical attention needed to get them healthy. We then transport the animals up to NY where they go into our wonderful foster homes until we find them all pre screened loving forever homes. We will adopt out-of-state on a case by case basis, including, but not limited to, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania.
Our goal is to find the best possible homes for our animals, to ensure a life-long loving commitment. We are dedicated to the well-being of our animals. One by One until there are none!
