My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NOTE: The demand for small dogs is at an all time high, and our phone lines have been bombarded with inquires about Scout and Kensi. As such, we kindly ask all interested parties to APPLY FIRST in lieu of calling. Due to the overwhelming demand, we will ONLY be following-up with chosen adopters. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Meet Kensi!

Kensi is a sweet girl who adores her soft stuffed toys. She will search for them, mouth them, wander around with them in her mouth, and bury them in her bed, the couch and blankets. She is also a huge fan of any and all treats, including small cucumber slices and carrot peels. She's very food motivated! She loves walks, and can comfortably walk 1-2 KMs, and has gone as far as 3 KMs.

She also likes to meet new people and approaches them with a wagging tail for a few pets. She also gets along well with other dogs, and was previously fostered with another small-breed dog.

Kensi is a bit chubby (her belly is adorable!), but she is losing weight and getting much stronger and more agile. She can jump on and off the couch by herself but needs to be lifted onto and off the bed.

This girl gets eye drops in her eye twice a day. She doesn't mind the drops and holds still for them. Her vision isn't great, but she gets around very well. She does seem more hesitant in low light.

She appears to be quite deaf. Kensi seems to be able to hear loud noises (like a whistle or a clap) but doesn't seem to hear quieter sounds. If you touch her while she's sleeping, she wakes up with a startle. I find the best way to wake her gently is to put my hand near (but not touching) her nose, or gently touch one of her feet (not her body).

Kensi seems to enjoy being brushed with a soft bristle brush, although she doesn't like having her legs brushed. She doesn't like having her nails clipped.
Thank you for your interest in adopting!

TIP: We encourage all applicants to write a little bit about themselves when prompted. Leaving these questions empty inhibits our ability to make the best match possible, and drastically effects the likelihood of receiving a call back.
