Meet Samson ACCT-A-212210! Samson is a 4-year-old male who was brought in by police as a stray on 1/28. Police noted that Samson was “Friendly” in their care.
Behavior Notes:
1/29 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:
KNOWN HISTORY: Stray, tied to a pole
KENNEL PRESENTATION: Samson was very nervous in kennel. He was laying on his bed and was trembling with wide eyes. The handler put the leash in and allowed for easy leashing but would not stand up and remained laying on his bed very fearful. The handler tried coaxing him off for several minutes with baby talk, treats, and some leash pressure but nothing worked. Another handler came to assist and lifted his bed from behind which prompted him to get up and exit the kennel. No issues returning
LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally, housebroken
HANDLING : In the room Samson was very nervous and timid. He stayed close to both of us and would sit next to us and lean in hard while being pet. He is very nervous at this time and is having a tough time coming out of his shell, but was tolerant to full body pets from both of us. He had no interest in treats while out today and followed us closely around the room.
PLAY: No interest
TOYS No interest
Medical Notes:
Per an exam on 1/28: “Police found lovely Samson, he came into intake looking a little down , was laying next to staff through out the exam. Was not interested in treats, did not like to be touch in the back (would lip lick with a side eye). Slight tarter on molars. Dull, alert, responsive. Samson is a down to earth sweetheart , would need time to open up. Would make a lovely companion.”
