My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our adoption fees have dropped until March 1, 2025 in honor of puppy love, and we're practically bursting with excitement to introduce you to your new best friend! 💕

🐾 Puppies – Now just $250 (was $300)!
They’ll steal your heart faster than you can say "fetch!"

Can you even handle this level of stunning?

I mean, seriously—this puppy’s markings are so drop-dead gorgeous, he’s basically a walking supermodel. If he’s this handsome now, just imagine the legendary heartbreaker he’ll be as an adult. You might as well start drafting his royal decree of admirers because the line of would-be squires and noble attendants is going to be longer than the Round Table’s dinner guest list.

Meet Sir Lancelot—a name that screams "noble knight," though, let’s be honest, he started off more like the skittish stable boy hiding in the rafters. This 10-week-old, 15lb Great Pyrenees mix may have the regal fluff of a future king, but his origin story is less "brave hero" and more "mysterious lone wanderer." When he landed at the shelter, he was basically a tiny, fluffy wildling—zero interest in human affection, full interest in avoiding you like a rogue sorcerer. Naturally, this put him on the urgent list, because, shocker, most people want a puppy that actually acknowledges their existence. Thankfully, a few kind-hearted nobles (a.k.a. foster families) took him under their wing, and, lo and behold—Lance has started to believe that perhaps humans are not all scheming court jesters after all. He now enjoys pets, actually acknowledges his humans, and even participates in family activities instead of lurking in the shadows like a disgraced knight in exile. But before you start picturing him as a golden-hearted, people-pleasing squire, let’s be clear—Lance is Pyr through and through. That means he’ll love you...on his terms. He’s independent, he’s stubborn, and while he will absolutely steal your heart, don’t expect him to be at your beck and call. More like...your enigmatic guardian who watches over you from his throne (read: dog bed) and bestows affection only when he deems you worthy. But if you seek a loyal companion who loves with quiet dignity, Lancelot is the noble steed—I mean, dog—for you.

Lance gets along well with other dogs and even extends his royal tolerance to feline nobility—because, obviously, true blue-blooded beings recognize one another. However, if your castle is filled with small, shrieking, high-speed goblins (aka young children), Lance would rather gallop off into the mist than stick around for that. Older, more patient children, however? Ah, those are the squires he can train to be part of his trusted inner circle. Give him time and the respect his noble heart requires, and he will reward you with unwavering devotion.

Now, let’s talk about what happens when you bring this pint-sized knight home. You might be dreaming of a grand, slow-motion, tail-wagging reunion at the gates of your kingdom, right? Yeah… no. More likely, Lance will vanish into the shadows faster than Merlin casting a disappearing spell. His foster family will probably have to extract him from his hiding place (most likely under a table, glaring at you like you’ve usurped his throne), and he will greet you with the same level of enthusiasm as if you had just requested he embark on a perilous quest before breakfast. No tail wags, no immediate declarations of loyalty—just pure, unbothered skepticism. But do not despair! For every knight has their trials, and if you prove yourself a worthy steward of his heart (and his snack supply), he will lower his defenses. Slowly, his playful and affectionate side will emerge, and you will be granted the greatest treasure of all—a fiercely loyal, mildly dramatic, and utterly wonderful best friend.

As for his energy level, Sir Lancelot sits at a noble 5. Not too wild, not too dull—he’s the canine equivalent of a knight who enjoys the occasional tournament but also appreciates a good feast followed by a nap. As a road trip companion, he’ll start off as the wary traveler, eyeing you as if you might be leading him into an ambush. Once he realizes you're not some highway brigand, he’ll settle in—though expect the occasional judgmental side-eye if your driving is less than smooth. Now, when it comes to the dreaded leash, Lance is still in his “what foul sorcery is this rope?” phase. His training is a work in progress, and while he has yet to go full-on jousting practice with it, don’t be shocked if he attempts an alligator roll to protest his perceived captivity. Give him time; even the greatest of knights had to learn the ways of battle (and by battle, we mean basic leash skills).

Now, when it comes to bravery… well, let’s just say Lance has a bit of a flair for the dramatic. Loud noises? Pure evil. The vacuum cleaner? A dragon in disguise. Thunderstorms? A cataclysmic event requiring immediate retreat. But beneath all his theatrical fearfulness, he’s simply a sensitive soul in need of a little reassurance that the world is not, in fact, ending. With a patient and loving hand, he’ll learn that not every unexpected sound is an impending siege.

Sir Lancelot’s hobbies include collecting (hoarding) toys and bones, engaging in the occasional zoomies, and perfecting his brooding stare. Fetch? Ah, no. What knight in his right mind chases after something you just discarded? But present him with a toy to gnaw upon while he lounges like the heir to Camelot? Now that’s more his style. As for his royal lodgings, he requires a properly fenced yard where he can survey his kingdom, stretch his legs, and ensure that no nefarious squirrels attempt an invasion. A tiny apartment in the bustling city? That’s no place for a noble beast like him.

Now, let’s get one thing straight—Lancelot may have a noble name, but he is not arriving at your castle pre-trained, pre-programmed, or pre-approved for civilized society. If you’re seeking a puppy who already knows the rules of courtly conduct, is fully housebroken, and respects the sacred kennel as more than just a human trick—think again. These are all noble quests you must undertake yourself.
So far, Lance hasn’t declared full-scale war on your belongings, which is promising! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves—he is still in his “brooding protagonist” phase, cautiously learning that humans might just be worth trusting. As he gains confidence, there is a distinct possibility that shoes, remotes, and other valuable artifacts may fall victim to his puppy antics. So consider this your royal decree—secure your treasures, arm yourself with chew toys, and prepare for the adventure of raising a puppy who is, well... a puppy!

If you’ve made it this far and haven’t fled in terror—congratulations! You just might be the brave and patient soul Sir Lancelot has been searching for. But here’s the deal: No secret quests, no sword-pulling ceremonies—just an adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app. And fair warning, you must journey to Hutchinson, KS, to claim your fluffy knight. No magic portals, no royal messengers—just you, your trusty steed (car), and a lifelong companion waiting to pledge his loyalty (eventually).

So, noble adopter—will you rise to the occasion? Will you take on the challenge and earn the trust of this magnificent pup? If so, apply now and prepare to welcome the most dashing, dramatic, and delightfully stubborn knight into your realm! 🏰🐾
