My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We are Thumbelina and Yokey.
We are twins our mom is Hazel and our pop is Scrappy.
We are the new kids on the A block .
We were sent here to Camp Shenanigans so we must be I wish.
I know I wish we was outta here.
But Yokey said the food is good and the people are nice.
We are getting the hang of the group activities.
We really looking forward to the Easter egg hunt. But we don't really know what that is yet.
We love to go out to play yards and run around.
We play keep-us-away for you to find us under the pool deck. That's a fun game.
We love to go walkie with the vollys they lets us be crazy but then we try to learn to do the leech walk and be good mannered.
Straight line walking is hard. we like to do circles and play twister with sister.
Come and join our fun won't you? We haven't seen so many people in our whole little lives .
We be shy at first and then we sneak around and sniff you out.
All the stafz say we are so cute and so sweet.
They say we give them lots of laffs. So we would give you lots of laffs too.
They asked us if we wanted bunk beds but we say no thank you we like to cuddle together in same bed.
All the vollys say "awwwwwwe♥️♥️♥️"
Come and awe us. We be fun!
Come and treat us in the sun!
We be sweet and we be nice.
We got no sass
We got no spice.
We just want hugs and lots of love.

If someone is adopting a dog and has another dog at home, we also require a "meet and greet" for the dogs as well. All animals in the home must be up to date on vaccinations prior to new pet going home. We do not adopt to people who will keep the pet outside exclusively. We may do a home visit either pre or post-adoption. Animals adopted from us are not be sold or given to another person. More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
