Story
Jase is an adorable 9-year-old, 10 pound, Chihuahua mix. He looks like a miniature Basenji. He has beautiful golden eyes and a ring of white fur around his neck. This handsome little guy was found in an orchard with five other dogs when he was barely a year old. He has spent years 2 through 9 here at the sanctuary. Jase does not allow us to pick him up or hold him. Once he gets to know you, he is quite happy to stand on you to get a treat. He loves treats, especially chicken and other people food, he will eat almost any vegetable. Jase is very happy with pack life. He needs a home with another dog or two that he can follow around. He goes outside to potty with the command “Go Potty”. He will use the doggie door. He sleeps happily in a crate (although we think he would adjust to sleeping in your bed) Jase is a house dog that needs outside privileges in a secure yard. He loves to snuggle with other dogs. Can he grace your home with his happy self? He will greet you joyously with a happy dance. He will make you smile. His presence is a delight. He is neutered, currently vaccinated and microchipped. He just needs to be appreciated and loved from afar. Here is a list of things that should help us answer you in a more timely manner. 1. When you apply please always use the same email address. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4. For Petfinders ( scroll down to the biography then click the adoption link) http://animalfriendsconnect.org/adoption-application-dogs/ 5. For Adopt a Pet (scroll way down past “Ask about me”) you will see the biography and underneath that will be the adoption questionnaire link. Story
Louis is a 1.5 year old male neutered 50 lb Pittie/Basenji mix who needs a loving home! At 6 months old, he was surrendered to a local animal shelter where he was considered for euthanasia due to severe kennel stress. Lou was saved by a rescue and received training, but ended up in foster when his adoption fell through. He urgently needs stability and to find his “person” as we cannot foster him long-term. Louis is potty trained and crate trained. He’s playful, cuddly, and loves people. Plays very well with dogs and currently lives with 3 other dogs in foster. Rarely, he can react to certain dogs but only when very overstimulated. Does well with older kids but his energy could overwhelm young children. Previous Pittie or dog experience preferred. Up-to-date on all vaccinations and flea, tick, and heartworm medication. Lou is microchipped and ready to roll. Please message me for additional details if you are interested in meeting Lou!

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700   Crockpot is a 5 year old Basenji x Corgi mix who is cooking up some love for his forever family! Crockpot came from the shelter as part of our “comfort food” collective and he has lived up to that descriptor ever since! Crockpot has that perfect long and low body of a Corgi with the face of a Basenji. He’s the best of both worlds! Crockpot weighs 17 pounds and is the perfect size for any adventure you could have planned, regardless of the season. If you’re ready for a helping of adorable pup, come pick up Crockpot today!      Crockpot may be a little guy but he is absolutely bursting with personality and charm. He adores his humans and wants to be near them all the time, so he would be an amazing fit for someone who works from home or who can bring a dog to the office. He is super goofy and loves playing hide and go seek or tag. Crockpot is still learning how to “dog” so toys are a bit of a mystery for him, but we have faith he will figure them out eventually. Crockpot is exceptionally cute with floppy ears and a curled tail. He is so loyal and loving and makes an impression on everyone he meets. Crockpot is extremely affectionate and is always ready to shower his people in kisses while he curls up next to you on the couch. He likes to place a gentle paw on you while he snoozes which means you can take a nap as well. It’s the best of both worlds! Come and scoop up some delicious Crockpot today and make the most of this cold weather staple.  Crockpot wakes up around 6:30 AM and goes right outside to potty. He comes in for breakfast and then heads out on a walk with his foster sister around the neighborhood. He gets tons of attention on his stroll and then goes into his pen while his humans are at work. He goes out around noon for potty and playtime and then takes a nap until his humans finish their workday. He goes out for another walk in the evening before he gets his dinner. He spends the rest of the evening lounging in the living room and cuddling with his humans until he goes to bed in his crate for the night.  Crockpot lives with a resident Golden Retriever and they get along well. He mostly ignores the resident senior car. He walks well on a leash besides some pulling his foster home has been working on. Crockpot does well when he meets new adults but little hands might be overwhelming for him until he feels comfortable. Come and meet this handsome hunk today!      Crockpot is only an option for homes who have previously owned a dog of their own. Kids should be over the age of 10. January 25, 2025, 1:04 pm
