Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Barkley is one handsome and adorable dog! Gentle by nature, he can also be a bit clumsy – he’s part Basset after all. Still, Barkley is a dream to walk since he is always checking to make sure you're following him or near him. He does not want to be too far apart from his human. Barkley does have hound tendencies with his nose often to the ground and an ear for squirrels. He loves a little bit of fetch with a ball or a stuffed toy.  Barkley is still learning basic manners. He knows to “sit” on command, but "four on the floor," is a challenge for him. With his 38 lbs weight and solid build, he needs a family without small children. Barkley has some separation anxiety and would prefer a family who will not need to crate him too often and will not leave him home alone too long. Barkley is a sweet boy who aims to please. He’s looking forward to a family he can dedicate himself to loving and pleasing.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 19, 2025, 7:35 pm

Story
Sam is the most unique looking pup. It was love at first sight when we pulled him from Randolph animal shelter. He has the body of a basset hound and the head of a pitbull. He definitely has that hound bark which is so cute and he only barks to alert us of anything unusual. He is definitely a very large lap dog. He wants to be as close to you as he can possibly get. He is completely house trained and does well in his crate. He is not destructive except…he is a digger. He is also an escape artist if given the opportunity. He does however come back when he is done with what HE wants to do. He doesn’t seem to care about my cats but will give chase if they run or move quickly so I would not trust him alone with them. He loves to play with them and snuggle on the couch. . He has been totally vetted and microchipped. He truly is a great dog, full of love to give. Story
We are looking for help in finding a new home for a sweet ~8-10 year old Beagle/Bassett mix, Chelsea. She is my mother in laws dog, and sadly she is in the hospital and will not be returning home. She rescued Chelsea in March of 2021. Chelsea is a chill dog who loves humans and is looking for her next family that wants to snuggle up on the couch! She is house trained and has also been trained to stay in the yard without leash. Chelsea needs to go to a home where she would be the only dog as she currently is afraid of other dogs (even small ones). She would get along best in a quiet home as she sometimes gets startled by loud or unexpected noises. Please let me know what questions we can answer about this sweet girl!

Story
(DOB 07/15/2022) Meet Diane a bundle of playful energy wrapped up in an adorable 35-40 lb package! Diane is dog-friendly and would absolutely love a home with a playful dog buddy and a fenced yard where she can romp around to her heart's content. She’s a true people lover who enjoys belly rubs and affection almost as much as she enjoys throwing her toys in the air and chasing them down like a pro! Rolling in the grass and soaking up the fresh air are some of her favorite pastimes; she does LOVE being outside. And if there's a game of chase going on with other pups, you can bet Diane will be right in the middle of the action! Diane loves treats and dental chews and will all but sell her soul for some yummy snacks. As a smart and slightly mischievous girl, she’s always up for a new challenge, making her a perfect candidate for training to keep that clever mind of hers entertained. Diane is crate trained, potty trained, and does okay on a leash, though she needs some work. She’s an adorable short stack with a smile that stretches for days!  She can be a little nervous when meeting new dogs, but if introduced properly, she loves all of them. Because of her energy level a home with little tykes probably not a good fit but kids who want to play and run around in the fenced in back yard with her would be great. Though another dog isn't absolutely required for Diane, she would likely be happiest with a home with a fun and playful 4-legged friend. If not, her new family would need to be very committed to lots of daily activities to burn off her physical energy and use her active brain! She can be a little mischevious and you can find her "hunting in the kitchen" if you don't keep a watchful eye on her she may be quick to try and grab a tasty nibble off the counter. Heck, if you are good cook, she's just trying to tell you how delicious your food is; nonetheless, a behavior we are working with Diane on. If you adore adorable Diane as much as we do, get your application in quickly!  As part of Diane’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Diane, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2149766##

Story
(DOB 11/01/2018) Charlie, the bundle of fun and energy that’s ready to bring joy to any home! This playful guy is all about having a good time—whether it’s running through the sprinkler on a hot summer day, tipping over his water bowl just to splash around, or imagining what it would be like to swim (we’re sure he’d love it!). Charlie’s also super smart and knows a lot of commands, making him an eager learner. His cuddles are top-notch, and he’s a master of giving sweet, gentle kisses and deep, loving stares right into your eyes. He’d thrive in a home with a yard, or with an active family who’ll keep him moving if they live in an apartment. He’d make an excellent addition to a family with one or two other dogs, though he’d be just as happy being your one-and-only best buddy. We think he'd do great with kids, too! Charlie is playful, loving, and just plain fun—if you’re looking for a happy, energetic companion, he’s your guy! Charlie has a big personality in a compact size (~40lbs), especially when it comes to his interest in those other furries called cats! If he spots a cat, he’s very interested in giving chase, so be aware when you are out and about. He is also still mastering walking on a leash and still pulls but  working on it. Charlie sleeps in his kennel, and he has a nice cushy bed which he doesn't chew. If you have a fence yard and you let Charlie out to romp, run around, play and goof off, know he loves to dig. Keep him busy otherwise he could get into some mishchief. After a long and lovely romp, he likes to chill out in a big, comfy bed on his cot. Charlie has been good with his foster's female dogs and shows a friendly demeanor toward one of the male dogs. While his previous owner mentioned that he may not get along with all male dogs, it seems he is simply more selective about his canine companions. With the right introductions, Charlie has the potential to form strong bonds with other dogs. He would certainly be happy as an only dog with a family that is fun and full of adventures just like him! As part of Charlie’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Charlie, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2239684##
