Story
(DOB 07/15/2022) Diane is a short stack with a bundle of playful energy! Her smile radiates as she explores, throws her toys in the air or is part of a great game of fetch with her people or goofing off with her doggie friends. She'd love another playful pup in her forever home to be her best buddy. And if that pup loves a good game of chase, then Diane is definitely going to be jumping in and being apart of that! Diane iss a true people lover who enjoys belly rubs and affection. She quickly makes friends with "strangers" and is happy to say hello to anyone passing by. She weighs in around 40lbs and is a great size...not too big and not too small; she is just right to be the perfect petite companion. Diane would love a 4ft + fenced inyard where she can romp around to her heart's content. She does LOVE being outside. She also loves walks and exploring the world around her. She is good on a leash but needs some work because she will pull if she sees a bird or squirrel scurring by...the little hound or terrier in her definitely gets her nose going! Diane loves treats and dental chews and will all but sell her soul for some yummy snacks. As a smart and slightly mischievous girl, she’s always up for a new challenge, making her a perfect candidate for training to keep that clever mind of hers entertained. Because of her energy level a home with little tykes is probably not a good fit but kids who want to play and run around in the fenced in back yard with her would be great. Though another dog isn't absolutely required for Diane, she would likely be happiest with a home with a fun and playful 4-legged friend. If not, her new family would need to be very committed to lots of daily activities to burn off her physical energy and use her active brain or ensure she can go to doggie day care regularly...she loves going! Diane understands some people just love kitties, but she just isn't interested in having them in her fur-ever home. She can be a little mischevious and you can find her "hunting in the kitchen" if you don't keep a watchful eye on her she may be quick to try and grab a tasty nibble off the counter. Heck, if you are good cook, she's just trying to tell you how delicious your food is; nonetheless, a behavior we are working with Diane on. Diane is crate trained, potty trained, so no worries there.  If you adore adorable Diane as much as we do, get your application in quickly!  As part of Diane’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Diane, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2149766##

Story
We are looking for help in finding a new home for a sweet ~8-10 year old Beagle/Bassett mix, Chelsea. She is my mother in laws dog, and sadly she is in the hospital and will not be returning home. She rescued Chelsea in March of 2021. Chelsea is a chill dog who loves humans and is looking for her next family that wants to snuggle up on the couch! She is house trained and has also been trained to stay in the yard without leash. Chelsea needs to go to a home where she would be the only dog as she currently is afraid of other dogs (even small ones). She would get along best in a quiet home as she sometimes gets startled by loud or unexpected noises. Please let me know what questions we can answer about this sweet girl!

Story
Meet Maybelline or "May Mayyyy" as we like to call her, our 4 year old lowrider mix. She is known for her little legs and big heart, and she is sure to make you fall for her with all the love she gives! She also LOVES nothing more than to cuddle and ask for rubs... all day, everyday! Maybelline is currently living with another dog and has done great with him, given a slow integration period. She loves to follow her foster brother Cooper around and seems to really enjoy his company. Previous to being rescued, she was living outdoors, and since arriving to her foster home, she has shown some leash reactivity/excitability when seeing other dogs that results in her getting hyped up. She has struggled with initial meetings with unfamiliar dogs and requires slow and controlled introductions. Unfortunately we may not be able to have her participate in a dog-to-dog meet prior to adoption in a safe way. If her future home has another pet, we would suggest doing a very slow separation/integration in order to introduce and integrate her into the home with other dogs. She would also do just fine as an only pet! She is working hard with her foster mom with her leash skills, because she does get quite excited when seeing other dogs on walks. Maybelline was undergoing heartworm treatment, but has since COMPLETED THEM! She is no longer on restricted exercise and can continue to being a regular dog and living her best life! Maybelline is starting to attend some training sessions with her foster mom now she has recovered from treatments. Her future home will benefit from working on leash manners, relationship building and basic obedience skills and our rescue is happy to provide resources and financially support some training sessions for her future family! We think May May would thrive in a home that is lowkey and with a family that would spoil and love her endlessly She's a pretty quiet girl with great manners, and is looking to explore/learn a whole new world of love and adventure with her new family! Story
He is not big, does not wield a sword of wear loin cloths...so Thor and is really more Thor "light" and Thor "country meets the suburbs" than what your imagination might conjure up. Thor is an adorable, squatty, a little chonky, male adult beagle who weighs about 25 lbs full grown. He is a dream of a beagle who loves to roam, wander, nap and do it all again. He is NOT signing up for hunting class and does not want to really "run" anywhere. Jog is more his style on his "high exercise" days and otherwise he likes to take life at a middling pace. Thor does great in his crate and with all of the other dogs. He is sure to be a great cuddle buddy and shadow for any of your more low impact activities. He's a beagle to behold!

Story
Porthos is a 6-7 year old Beagle who is sweet but very scared - he has obviously been mistreated by humans, so we are going slowly with him to gain his trust. He will need compassionate and loving humans to help him get over his fear. HOWEVER - he loves, loves dogs. They are validating for him and he will need a home with dogs to loosen him up. He doesn't seem interested in cats, but does love dog friends! Porthos is hw-, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. **Extra bonus points if you get his name reference!** To adopt Porthos, please go to apply.neshamarescue.org
