Hi, I'm Jewlz. I'm a 1 year old Beagle mix and I love to say hello! My owner unforunetly couldn't take care of me anymore so I'm bouncing to get a new home. I do great with everyone and would make a great addition to any family. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2282346##

Penelope is a loving, 1-year-old, female beagle mix. She is relatively quiet in the house, and loves to run and play with her toys. She isn’t much of a sharer – so while she enjoys running around and playing keep away, she will make it very clear the toy fun is to be had by her and her alone. Penelope is an assertive female, and would do best with a male dog or as an only pup. She is quite the princess, wants all the love, and being a solo pup would be just fine with her. Penelope settles into her crate after a few minutes of reminding you that a crate is no place for a princess, thank you very much. She only uses her crate when no one is home, and sleeps free-roam with two of her current foster siblings, without issue. Penelope is exuberant and excited to see her humans when they return home from work. She jumps up on them and her foster mom is working on helping her learn not to do this. This lovable girl thrives on companionship and would be happiest with someone who works from home or isn’t away for long periods. Mindy’s foster family describes her as “the perfect girl.” She sleeps peacefully in bed all night, complete with adorable snores. She gets along wonderfully with the other dog and cats in her foster home and has a special fondness for the family’s 4-year-old son.
