Story
Meet Billy the Beagle!Billy is a 2 year old beagle looking for his new best friend! He`s a cuddlebug that would love to spend time on the couch with you. If you`re looking for a reading partner, he loves snuggling in a window seat and relaxing with his favorite people. Billy doesn`t like to share his food or treats and would do best in an adult only home. If this Silly Billy sounds up your alley, come to our Dedham Shelter to meet with him! Billy is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Billy or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.

Byrd is a laid-back bundle of joy who truly believes life is meant to be enjoyed. With his easygoing nature and a heart full of love, he makes friends wherever he goes—whether it’s with people or other dogs!Byrd is the ideal companion for any family. He walks well on a leash, is both house and crate trained, and just wants to be part of the action, bringing his positive energy to every moment. His perfect mix of age and size makes him a great fit for any home. Byrd does well around other dogs in the home and with others on leash. He plays appropriately with them. He has been around some cats that have come in his yard and he was scared of them, but he would most likely do fine if he was living with them. Being a chill and friendly guy, he would probably be good with kids too.If you’re looking for a loyal, happy, and loving addition to your family, Byrd might just be your perfect match! Please Note: All dogs are posted on our website until they are officially adopted. Story
Lenny is wearing his green bandana for St. Patricks Day and he would love to celebrate with his new family - could that be you? Lenny is a super sweet Beagle. He can be tentative at first when meeting new people, but he warms up and when comfortable. He likes to be with his favorite people. Lenny is crate-trained and sleeps through the night. He will also go into the crate on his own. He likes to lounge. Lenny is fostering in an urban environment, which is new for him, and is a bit hesitant on walks. But each day he goes a bit farther and is gaining confidence. At night when there are fewer cars and noises he does better. In spaces that he knows he is more confident. Lenny is very food motivated, he loves his treats, and this is useful for training. He seems good around other dogs. He met a chihuahua and was indifferent at first but not at all aggressive. He would probably do well with another dog in the home. He's a good looking Beagle and his photos don't reflect his good looks. Lenny is about 3 yrs old and weighs about 30 lbs. He's not overweight but is a sturdy dog. Lenny is fostering in the Boston area and is ready for visits. If you’d like to apply to adopt, please submit an application using the link below. Story
Duke is a friendly Beagle who was found stray in Louisiana. He's about a year old and weighs about 32 lbs. Duke stayed with a foster for a few weeks in Louisiana before making his journey north. She reports that Duke is friendly and loves attention. He has been observed around kids, cats and her small dog and did fine. He was not destructive in her home, is not food aggressive. He walks well on a leash and is working on housebreaking. Duke loves attention and petting and can have some separation anxiety. He might feel a better sense of security with another dog in the home if being left alone. He tolerates the crate but may bark briefly. Duke won the hearts of his Louisiana fosters, and they would have kept him but could not have a second dog. Duke will be arriving in Massachusetts in late March.
