Story
Sam is a 4yo lavender beagle. We were his third home by the time he was 4 months old. Because he was crated 24/7 and not given love in those crucial months he has crate aversion and his emotions can be odd. He wants to be in control of other dogs. He attended a 2wk board and train when he was two. He has retained a lot of what he learned but even the trainer felt he was a failure because of his quirks. Sam does love to train, he enjoys the one on one and showing what he can do. He is a fat boy who loves who loves food more than anything! He knows how to wait to eat with a Go Ahead command. He loves to give hugs. He knows sit, down, stay, high five, spin, loves to do jumps over beams and absolutely loves to go on walks! He could be an amazing pet if he was the only dog in the house or maybe with a smaller breed dog. He loves cats and other small pets, he is not prey or hunt driven. Sam deserves all the love he missed out on as a pup. We have no choice in rehoming him.

Story
Meet Sally! This sweet and spunky 8-month-old girl is bursting with love and personality. Sally is a happy, affectionate girl who’s always ready to share kisses and tail wags. She’s the kind of dog who lights up a room with her enthusiasm and will keep you smiling with her goofy antics. Sally has a playful spirit and loves nothing more than zooming around the yard or chasing her favorite toys—She especially adores plush toys—even if they don’t last long! She’s still learning the ropes of polite leash walking and tends to pull when she’s excited, but with consistency and positive reinforcement, she’ll be a great walking buddy. She already knows how to “sit” and is eager to learn more, especially if treats or toys are involved. Sally would thrive in an active home where she can burn off her puppy energy and get plenty of snuggles after playtime. If you’re looking for a fun-loving companion with a big heart and an even bigger personality, Sally might just be your girl!   Personality: Sweet, affectionate, playful Leash Manners: Excited to go on walks—working on leash manners Favorite Activities: Running around and playing outside, playing with toys Training: Knows “sit” and is eager to learn more   Volunteer Notes: “Very sweet & friendly!” “Super sweet & loves to play!” “Very affectionate and loving!”   *Just a heads up, the way dogs behave here at the shelter might not be exactly how they act in a home environment. Dog behavior can change once they find their forever family. These are just our observations from their time at the SPCA of SWMI.* ##2260032##

Story
This is Jack.Jack is….7, sweet, hw-, anxious (but getting more comfortable), learning how to be a dog, and in possession of the cutest underbite! Jack came to foster from a place he wasn’t wanted. He was very timid and stressed. But he has blossomed into the sweetest, most affectionate gentleman. He now knows he can take treats, get pets and be safe. And he now loves the treats, insists on pets and is comfortable playing. He is dog friendly, cat friendly, crate trained (but left free in the house he does nothing bad), great on a leash, and kid friendly. He barely barks - seriously! If you are looking for a new best friend to hang with - Jack may be your guy. He’ll go for walks or cuddle hour hours. He doesn’t like car rides but that is getting better the more confident he gets.He is gonna be so happy to find his forever home - maybe that’s with you! Please check out our adoption process & on-line application here: https://www.newhopepetrescue.com/Adoption Fee for dogs cover the following vetting:1. Story
Make sure you let us know you saw Athena on Adopt-a-pet. Talk about perfect, it doesn't get any easier. Athena's housetrained, crate trained, ok free roaming the home, good with kids, dogs, unknown cat behavior, she's not destructive, enjoys meeting new people, likes car rides and daily walks, she's quiet, and a total love to be around. So the big question, why did her owner surrender her? Athena will chase rabbits and has done it a few too many times. Easy fix, we will be requiring a fenced yard to keep this girl home safe and sound....not a big ask when you're getting THE-BEST-PUP!
