Hey guys! My name is Hunter. I am an older gentleman that steals the hearts of everyone I meet. I am new to CCRC so they are still learning about me.  More details will be updated soon.  If you wish to meet me, please fill out an application today!  We do not have a facility for you to visit.  WE PROCESS APPLICANTS AND SET APPOINTMENTS BASED ON THE ORDER APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED , so while you are welcome to email  ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, you will want to complete the  ONLINE APPLICATION ASAP ,  which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find  a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10 day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fee is $220 for adults, $295 for puppies (under 6 months), and $150 for seniors (8 yrs and up) which covers the cost of the spay/neuter, age appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. The majority of dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers, so there is often very little known about their history or even current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC provides a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, as well as telephone support.   July 14, 2024, 6:02 pm

Not good with kids, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained,
Story
Our family adopted, Sebastian, Sebby, April 2021, When he was roughly 10 weeks old and our boys were just 2 1/2 and newly four-year-olds at the time. He is now 3, and our boys are nearly 6 and 7 1/2 y/os. It was (and still is) a whole lot of energy in the house, and sadly that is why we have to adopt him out. Sebby is a love bug, he snuggles, begs for pets, enjoys a sniffing walk, his default is to sit and wait for you and what you want. He’s a great “picker upper” if you drop cheese, fruit or popcorn, and chases ice cubes. Sadly we are finding the energy in our home is not one he is handling well, nor is it fair to him. We are seeing a lack of boundary respect (mostly from one who has a sensory need that overstimulates the pup), and are afraid that someone will get hurt and don’t want that to happen. It breaks our hearts to do this, but we need to protect our family (human & pup). We feel that he’d do best in a family with older kids who understand boundaries or empty nesters.

Not good with kids, Good with dogs,
Story
Hi I’m Creek! I am a sweet, gentle soul of a dog and I’m looking for a home that will understand my more sensitive personality and help me become a more confident boy. My foster mom say’s I’m the most un-beagle, beagle…except for my LOVE of rolling in the grass on walks and the occasional counter surfing. I am not a barker and will not chase bunnies, squirrels or other little critters. I could really care less about them. I’m not a digger and not interested in climbing over fences since I don’t have a strong prey drive. I love to go on walks and am super gentle and easy on the leash. I don’t pull and will not try to go very far from my foster mom, always looking back to make sure she’s there. I do GREAT in a car. I’ll just settle in and hang out. I don’t drool, or pant or try to jump into the front seat. I’m a pretty low-key boy. I do have fears that I’m working on and will need to continue in a patient and loving home. Loud and sudden noises and movements make me skittish. I am more comfortable around women (Hey…I’m a ladies’ man!) so would need an adult female to be my primary caretaker and a more quiet, gentle man in the household. I would do best in a home that has lower energy with someone home most of the time. I would not enjoy young kids at all as those fast movements and loud noises would be too much for me. My foster mom says I’m her shadow. I like to follow her around in the house. I sleep in my own big dog bed next to her side of the bed and I am good sleeper even a bit of a snorer. I sleep so soundly at night that the next morning I do my yoga stretches (downward dog, upward dog) several times to get ready for our morning walk. I am totally game for sleeping in if that’s your thing. I won’t wake you up to feed me or walk me. I’m working on the ability to tell my foster parents I need to go potty. I am very good at doing my business right away when I go outside, and I hold it all night long. A fenced yard and/or doggy door might be really beneficial for me to take more responsibility. My current family does not have either, so I have to wait for them to leash me and take me out. I go to doggy daycare several times a week and do just fine. I’m not bothered by other dogs and will be the submissive one in the relationship. However, if I get together with another Beagle friend I LOVE to play and run around. I would really enjoy having a Beagle sibling that can help me with my confidence and be my playmate. My foster mom has been told I had a hard beginning but I’m already starting to show my true personality which is that I have a big, big heart and I’m a pleaser. If you are looking for a more low-key pooch to add to your family, I just might be your guy! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
