Story
Butters is the sweetest dog in the world. Yes from South Park. He’s 12 but acts like a puppy with a big bark. His bday is cinco de mayo 5-5-2012. He’s your stereo typical dog thats obedient and loves to cuddle and eat. Beggar for days. Loves walks and loves to play catch and tug of war. Destroys any toy you give him. Goes crazy for squeaky toys and will hide bones and gets sad when you find it. He’s way more mellow now but can match your energy if you’re up for the challenge. I’m so sad to put him up for adoption but I have two babies now and can’t give him the life he deserves. I drove to sugar creek Ohio to get him from an Amish guy. My jeep got a flat minutes before my destination with no service. Had to stay the night in an Amish motel and snuck him in. Poop everywhere! He’ll never leave your side and my forever Pokémon. He will love you forever and cry with you when you’re sad. He is my dog child. My best friend. I hope he gives you as much joy as he did in my life. 😭 ❤️ 🐶

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Ace was a stray Dog. We found him on the west side of Detroit in the middle of the street and under a house. Our family decided to take him and get Ace back to health. Our family immediately took him to the vet to get him checked out and gave him the shots that he was needed. Over the years, my family and I kept up with his shots. Furthermore, he is now house trained, and knows his basic training, sit, down, stay and more!! We look forward to rehome him to a perfect home since we did our duties by bringing him back to health and ready for another home to be happy with him.

Story
Meet Ruth! This adorable six-month-old beagle mix is eagerly waiting to make your family complete! She's a 31-pound light-hearted gal that will provide years of love and laughter. Ruth has an optimistic enthusiasm that will brighten anybody's day. She is a social sweetie who enjoys the company of people and pups alike. She soaks up all the attention she can get from volunteers and is always up for adventure. Ruth loves to play outside and will need a yard of her own to enjoy in her new home. As Ruth is still a young lady, she will benefit from continued training as she grows. She is very eager to please and is learning her basic commands. She is a very capable girl and we know she will make you proud! Based on our evaluation, we feel Ruth would do well in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. She may have the potential to live in a home with other animals. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Don't wait! Go to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our baby Ruth!

Story
Hey guys! My name is Hunter. I am an older gentleman that steals the hearts of everyone I meet. I am new to CCRC so they are still learning about me.  More details will be updated soon.  If you wish to meet me, please fill out an application today!  We do not have a facility for you to visit.  WE PROCESS APPLICANTS AND SET APPOINTMENTS BASED ON THE ORDER APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED , so while you are welcome to email  ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, you will want to complete the  ONLINE APPLICATION ASAP ,  which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find  a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10 day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fee is $220 for adults, $295 for puppies (under 6 months), and $150 for seniors (8 yrs and up) which covers the cost of the spay/neuter, age appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. The majority of dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers, so there is often very little known about their history or even current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC provides a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, as well as telephone support.   August 18, 2024, 2:40 pm
