Story
Binx has been in long term care with us undergoing heartworm treatment. As of 2/23/24 he has got the all clear from the Vet and is ready for his new home! Binx is a VERY laid back 4 year old male. He his on the larger side for a Beagle. He is quiet, minimal energy and would love a couch to just relax on. Because of the previous heartworm, Binx will require heartworm preventative for the rest of his life. Binx is VERY smart and can not be left unsupervised in a fenced in area- he will require a tie out or VERY secure fencing. He is capable of breaking chain link and slipping through it. But dont let that scare you- he would make a great townhouse or apartment dog with Leash walks! Binx is crate trained, however requires and Indestructible crate... however, he really does not need it as his behavior is very non-destructive

Story
Our sweet little peanut is ready for her forever home! Charlie girl came to us in 2023 an absolute hot mess but sweet as could be- and with all she has been through, her sweetness stayed the same. Charlie Girl was treated for heartworm, so preventative is required for the rest of her life. She is very small, and we believe she may be a dachshund mix with her short legs. She gets along great with other dogs. She is low energy and would prefer snuggles over playtime. She definitely returns the love she receives as she is very affectionate! Please consider giving Charlie Girl the chance she deserves to live her best life! She is up to date on shots, spayed, microchipped and well come with a supply of heart wor preventative

Story
Hey guys! My name is Hunter. I am an older gentleman that steals the hearts of everyone I meet. I am new to CCRC so they are still learning about me.  More details will be updated soon.  If you wish to meet me, please fill out an application today!  We do not have a facility for you to visit.  WE PROCESS APPLICANTS AND SET APPOINTMENTS BASED ON THE ORDER APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED , so while you are welcome to email  ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, you will want to complete the  ONLINE APPLICATION ASAP ,  which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find  a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10 day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fee is $220 for adults, $295 for puppies (under 6 months), and $150 for seniors (8 yrs and up) which covers the cost of the spay/neuter, age appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. The majority of dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers, so there is often very little known about their history or even current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC provides a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, as well as telephone support.   August 19, 2024, 1:18 pm

Story
Meet Ruth! This adorable six-month-old beagle mix is eagerly waiting to make your family complete! She's a 31-pound light-hearted gal that will provide years of love and laughter. Ruth has an optimistic enthusiasm that will brighten anybody's day. She is a social sweetie who enjoys the company of people and pups alike. She soaks up all the attention she can get from volunteers and is always up for adventure. Ruth loves to play outside and will need a yard of her own to enjoy in her new home. As Ruth is still a young lady, she will benefit from continued training as she grows. She is very eager to please and is learning her basic commands. She is a very capable girl and we know she will make you proud! Based on our evaluation, we feel Ruth would do well in an active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. She may have the potential to live in a home with other animals. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Don't wait! Go to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our baby Ruth!

Story
I rescued Daisy Mae in October of 2023 in Flint. She’s about a year and a half (maybe closer to 2) as the previous owner told me she had a litter not too long before I got her. Unfortunately, my living situation is no longer steady and I’m struggling to take proper care of her. Daisy’s very much a companion dog, never not at my side, loves to cuddle, play with her rubber bones and can run around outside all day long. She is very sweet and chill when she wants to be but I do take her on multiple walks a day. Because she is a rescue, she has some troubles with adult males and a bit shy with anyone new but with little time and care she will become very close and loyal to any and everyone.

Story
This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon! At 7 months old and 35 pounds, Avalon is all puppy and is still growing. She’d make a great companion for an avid walker, hiker or runner or an active family. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, so supervision while she’s playing is a good idea. Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 40 to 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones. She’s cautious around strangers but will warm up to them if given time to get to know them. Avalon’s foster mom says that she a very smart girl and is picking up obedience basics such as “sit,” “wait,” and “come,” and is working on improving her leash manners. Avalon rides well in the car and goes to doggy daycare two or three days a week, where she really seems to enjoy hanging out and playing with her friends there. Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. When it’s time to go to sleep, Avalon is equally happy to snuggle up in a dog bed or people bed – she just wants to be comfy! She’s housetrained with the use of a doggy door. If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
