Story
Introducing Penny: The Sweetheart Beagle Who’s Ready to Be Your Best Friend! Penny is a 5-year-old bundle of love with floppy ears, a wagging tail, and a nose that’s always on the hunt for her next adventure! Rescued from an Amish puppy mill, this little lady is ready to leave her past behind and find her forever family. Spayed and up-to-date on all her vaccines, Penny is a total sweetheart who has mastered the art of cuddling. She’s eager to show you just how much love one Beagle can give! She’s 1000% beagle & wants a home that’ll be happy to take her out for lots of the muscle building exercise she’s missed out on so far in life. If you have a fully enclosed yard, she’d be happy to spend hours snoofing around with you & will announce what she finds with her beagle songs! Penny’s Highlights: 🐾 Dog Social Butterfly: Penny adores other dogs! Whether it’s a game of chase or curling up for a group nap, she’s happy to be part of the pack. 🐾 Kid Magnet: Penny has a gentle, loving nature that makes her a great companion for kids—she’s always up for some playtime or quiet snuggles. 🐾 Toy Collector Extraordinaire: Squeaky toys, stuffed animals, chew bones—Penny loves them all and will happily fill your home with her toy collection. 🐾 Crate Comfort: She’s crate trained and views her crate as a cozy little retreat when she needs a break. Things to Keep in Mind: Classic Beagle Traits: Penny’s nose is her compass, and she’ll happily follow it to wherever it leads—so she’ll need close supervision when outside to keep her safe. House Training: Penny is still learning the ropes when it comes to house training. Patience and consistency will help her adjust to indoor life after spending much of her life in a barn. Cats: We’re unsure how Penny feels about cats as she doesn’t currently live with any. Penny is ready to trade her barn days for belly rubs, walks, and a cozy spot on the couch. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly companion with a touch of Beagle curiosity, Penny is the perfect match. Apply today to meet Penny and give this lovable girl the home she’s been dreaming of! 🐶💖 kindly give your veterinarian permission to give us a reference before submitting your application & let us know you’ve done so.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, my name is Lila!! I am a 5-month-old mixed breed puppy. What breed mix am I, you ask, well we think there might be some beagle, maybe some terrier and maybe even some danish farm dog but who knows for sure. What we do know is that I am adorable with all my amazing markings and colors and my foster mom also thinks I am the sweetest girl ever! I am going to be a medium sized pup when I am all grown up and some say that is the perfect size! I am a loyal girl, all the other puppies enjoy playing together in the puppy room, but me, I would rather go searching for where my foster mom went because I love to be her little shadow, wherever she goes I find her. My favorite place in the world is on my foster mom’s lap, you see she says I am her little cuddle bug and I take that job very seriously. When I am not on my cuddling job, I do like to play with my foster siblings and we all get along great! We all like to go outside and explore and guess what, I don’t even mind that white stuff, it is actually kind of fun until I get cold and then the fun is over!! I am crate trained and I sleep in it all night without a peep and I am working on potty training and should have that down in no time because whenever I am good I get one of those amazing things they call treats. So, do you want me to come to your house so you can be my forever family and I can be your forever cuddle bug, I think I would like that, how about you? You can apply for me today at BuffaloCares.org! Love, Lila! Story
Jack is a 6 year old neutered Beagle mix.  He is great with other dogs and kids but needs a home with no cats.  He is house trained and crate trained. Jack is currently in a foster home. Volunteers For Animals periodically pulls dogs from other shelters to free up space; this helps avoid euthanizing healthy, adoptable animals. We are able to do this through the generosity of many people such as the originating shelter staff, transporters, foster volunteers and others who help with pulling fees, vet bills and finding good homes once they are here. The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the rescues animals can range from $100 to $450 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If you are interested in any of the Rescue dogs, please email us. Do not call the Shelter regarding rescue animals - they have no information about these dogs. All rescue animals are in foster homes with volunteers - NOT at the Shelter - unless otherwise noted.   Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.March 12, 2025, 8:06 am

Story
Jolene was born around June 24, 2022 and weighs about 20-25 pounds.  Jolene came to us from Kentucky with the one hour at a time volunteer transport team and a very kind overnight foster person.  Everyone along the way adored her as we do now! Jolene did have a home in Kentucky with the town drunk and he tossed her out the front door and said he "wanted her gone".  A kind neighbor called her over and kept her until she could get her into the hands of another kind person and then she, tearfully, loaded her in the first transport car to come here to us.  She is very sweet and affectionate and really loves to be carried (good thing she's little) and snuggled with and have her belly rubbed.  Jolene rides well in the car and LOVES to wrestle, play, run, with other dogs and she does need another fun playmate in her next life and a large enough, physically fenced, safe area in which they can release the energy she has.   She is also a very good swimmer.  This is all we know so far and we will be learning as we go!  The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link "Special Instructions to Seller" if you want to note a particular pet Before you seek to adopt a pet from Joyful Rescues, please read our Pet Adoption page http://www.joyfulrescues.org/pet_adoption.html. Story
Rex was born around March 31, 2022 and weighs about 50 pounds.  Rex is with us because his humans gained custody of a special needs child and it was decided that finding Rex a new home was in his (Rex's) best interest.  Rex is wonderful with cats and other dogs and is the sweetest boy ever.   Rex is a teensy bit shy at first but within minutes he is a wiggly, adorable, goof, who wants to snuggle and play.  Rex loves car rides and walks nicely on a leash with some pulling at first.  Rex was purchased from a shady pet store which is now out of business.  They sold Rex as a Collie Shepherd mix but we are struggling with that.  We feel he's more of a Beagle mix of some sort.  He is gorgeous black and white along with rusty red markings that reminds of Bernice Mountain Dogs!  Rex is the kind of dog that will hang with you outside, off leash, while you do your chores or are playing with him - once he is adjusted and knows he lives there.    Rex doesn't mind baths and he is enjoying our pond.  Rex is nicely house trained.  Rex was with a family that raised him from a pup with a special needs child, but the child was causing him physical and mental discomfort.  For this reason Rex would truly prefer an adult only home. Please help us find this home for the adorable Rex!   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $500.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations.
