You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!I come from the south in a place where dogs are just dogs.  We weren't being treated very nicely so they came and got us thank goodness but then we were in a high kill shelter and that is scary too!!!  Lucky for us 2nd Chance came down to pick up some other lucky dogs and the staff asked if they would take me and Vivian and they said YES YIPEEEEE we were really excited so we hitched a ride to the North and now we are staying in this really nice foster home with a big fenced yard and they let us sleep on these things called 'furniture' and they give us good food and we get to do this thing called snuggling with them ahhhh life is sooooo much better!!!!If you would like to meet me or better yet me and Viv fill out an application and lets make a date to play :)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!March 11, 2025, 4:07 pm

Story
I adopted Eddie a year ago from the Lancaster SPCA. No history available, but it is pretty obvious that he has some PTSD. Not aggressive at all, but more very submissive. Is frightened of sudden movements so we assume he was physically abused. His vet feels he was crated 24/7. Eddie has made remarkable progress since I first got him and is nowhere near skittish as he was then. He is only crated when I go to work. Special needs are just that he needs someone who is gentle and a household that is somewhat quiet and relaxed. Although he loves children, that may take some adjustment for him as far as being a little more hectic than he is used to here with me alone. Eddie is adorable and very loving. He desires a lot of loving attention, which is pretty common for a beagle! He is a great walker and does really good on a leash. Loves meeting new people and new dogs. Extremely friendly! Like all beagles, Eddie is very laid back and loves to sleep!!

Story
Bailey has the face of a Beagle and the legs of a gazelle. He is trained to use a pet door and has been accident-free since arriving here. He's a sweet little boy that needs a family who will help boost his confidence. We think he's around 2 years old and he is healthy and ready to travel now. He seems to be afraid of men so a home with females or smaller quiet males would be best for him and another friendly dog would also help him feel more comfortable. If you're interested in welcoming Bailey or any of our Funny Farm friends into your home, please visit funnyfarmpets.org to learn more about our Tennessee-based rescue, the adoption process, the comprehensive vetting procedures these pets undergo before they come to your home, and to submit an adoption application. The adoption fee for this pet is $325, and an additional $200 is required for transport. Currently located in a foster home in Tennessee, this pet will be transported to a northern location after the adoption process is finalized. For details on meeting locations and the transport process, please visit the transport tab at funnyfarmpets.org
